Our village is a very lively one. Many many artists live here. You'll be introduced to a great variety of people. We live in the countryside so it's a very simple life. You'll stay at my house unless you are allergic to children because I have 4 extraordinary ones! In that case we have plenty of possibilities to provide shelter in quieter places.
You'll be able to have a precious insight into the French educational system and you'll get a valuable rewarding field experience with teens. Our students need to improve their communication skills and so all learning situations will be explored. Good experience if you're thinking about teaching at some point in your life. I'm a teacher at the village high school and I'll share all I can.
We celebrate music in the village on June 24th...big village event! Nice to witness and share!
You'll also be able to share our French life style...family life, cheese craze, typical cuisine, musical jams, artistic picnics, painting, gardening if you feel like it, Paris is so close too!!!
Loads of possibilities to enjoy your stay and come back again :)!!

We're looking for English speaking (even 2nd language), open-minded people. This project aims at providing authentic communication situations. Workshops will be organized with the volunteers. You can share classes with us teachers in the field you like or liven up group work by telling our teenage students about your travels, studies, lives, work experience, passions during he first week. The whole second week is dedicated to the organization of the school's end of year party. This involves making posters, land art installations, creative decorating, theme work...and a lot of fun!

    Accommodation

We live in a C18th century house in the center of the village (used to be the notary house). We moved in a year ago. It's still not renovated inside (given the amount of work:)!) but we have a very large attic with 4 different rooms. One is too shabby but the others are ok. One could be a dormitory style room. The two last ones have double beds but we put up 2 other people until the beginning of July so we'll organize a shared space.
We have only one bathroom at the moment (so we'll need to organize some early showers and late ones to be sure to have enough hot water).
The school is only 2 minutes away by foot so for lunch there would be the possibility to eat at the school canteen or come back home for a quick meal. Usually all my kids are at school for lunch.
At dinner, we sometimes eat with the kids or later depending on the feeling and the hunger.
Both my husband and I are good cooks and we'd be happy to prepare some typical French cuisine for you. Vegetarians welcome! (we know how to cook without meat as well!)
This to say your meals will be provided and if you feel like cooking yourself to share some recipes from your native country we'd be most happy to discover!
If this seems too far from what you'd like, there's always a possibility to stay at some of my friends' houses. Most of them are artists and also good-hearted people. Their houses are all close in the village center as well. Old typical houses as well.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We lead a simple life. We take very good care of our children who are really lovely.
My husband and I speak English fluently. We'd like to meet people who are easy-going and attentive to the details of community life because we're already a group in some ways.
We've met 3 wonderful workawayers last autumn. Wonderful shiny people who'll be back late spring to perform at a festival we're currently organizing.
