Description
Agriculture and cultural experience, located in a small village in the hills of Sabina, one hour north of Rome. We are a married couple, a Sicilian farmer/architect and international contemporary art curator, managing a small farm and working between art and agriculture.
We seeking mature, experienced, and enthusiastic help with gardening in a historic property that includes a formal park as well as olive groves. Couples are welcome, as it is isolated. The tiny village is about 10 minutes by bus from the next town; it is a quiet and ancient rhythm of life.
Lodging and minimum wage (Italy) are offered, for hours worked, with helpers responsible for their own food, when not dining with us (frequent).
Grazie!

Giuseppe is the product of an ancient Sicilian culture, with deep knowledge of his country, its literature, politics, art, food, dress, and customs. Cornelia has lived in New York and Belgium, and brings a knowledge of contemporary art to the table. The context is the landscape Vergil and Horace wrote about. We work together to prove that an ancient agricultural life can survive in the 21st century.
Our past interns have done a mix of gardening, labelling olive oil cans, tying up grape vines, harvesting grapes or olives, helping with olive oil tastings, helping prepare the houses for rental to movie companies, or advertising shoots, sorting out antique furniture, or assembling it, etc.Host offers payment in line with the minimum wage

I'm German-born, grew up in the USA, and went to graduate school at Columbia University in NYC. Then lived in Belgium for 10 years, and now Italy, for twenty-five. My husband is the son of diplomats and has lived in many countries. We love international thinkers!Accommodation
There are three living options.
One is about 300 meters from main house, a small independent white house where we usually lodge artists. It's right next to the canteen. Bedroom, kitchen, sofas, antiques, and art is on the walls. Suitable for one person or a couple.
Next to our own house, there is an apartment with two small bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, living area, fireplace, directly adjacent to family home. Suitable for a family, or a couple.
There's also a tiny house in the garden, with working fireplace, tiny kitchen.
We offer sheets, towels, laundry access, room and board as base. Meals can be shared with us when Workaway person desires, but privacy also respected. Giuseppe is a great chef, but welcomes other cooks in the kitchen. What else ...
Rome is 50 km away, easily accessible by train and bus. Locally, there is hiking, rock climbing, fishing, swimming, horseback riding, and great cultural and culinary treats.
We offer inclusion in our life, where desired, and also privacy when needed. Plenty of room and lots of experience in hosting and mentoring.
It is a tranquil place, and isolated, so independent and self-sufficient applicants are desirable!A little more information
