I was contemplating if I should write a review or not, but maybe this can help to figure out if this is the right place for you. I only have experience with two hosts and I will not consider workaway again.
My stay with Alison started very pleasant and respectful. My job was gardening. 2 hours a day. After my first week of stay, Alison left for
… read more about ... maybe 5 days on a trip and left the house, her dog and during the day the 2 dogs of her daughter in my care. She did ask me if it is ok for me and I agreed. I brought her to the airport and also pickt her up when she returned. I mostly took care of the dogs, house and the people visiting unannounced. I did a lillte gardening too but because we agreed on 2 hours a day I was not intending to do a lot in the garden. I considered investing time to drive her and letting the dogs out hourly, as well as feeding, giving medication and cleaning after them as work which was more then 2 hours a day allready. When Alison returned she was unhappy about the fact that I didnt finish all of the garden while she was gone (which was way more work than what could have been handeled in the time she was gone, even if there were no other jobs). Also apperently the gardening I had done the first week of my stay while she was at home, was not done right. So she told me to leave! I know about gardening and her complains did not sit right with me. Also I was asking several times while gardening if this is how she wants it done and she only replied "its not difficult, just do it", when there were plenty opportunities to tell me to change what I'm doing.
So in total one could argue that communication was at fault. But I honestly feel a bit wronged. That the work I did was not considered work, I was told that i did nothing while she was gone and then being kicked out without prior notice.
So what I can recommend to Alison is to maybe try a more direct approach to communicate what is considered work. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I call this amazing lady, Margaret, an ANGEL 💕 she was with me in cairns for a month and I wish she never had to leave
She worked like a Trojan digging and concreting 17 posts for a 40 metre fence, spreading 16 meters of wood chip and cleaning out all the gardens. She is an amazing cook- though we didn’t have time to cook gnocchi 😍
Every single

I would have no hestitation recommending this girl to anyone 💕 she worked on my house to make it feel like home and
I cannot wait to see her again in our lives. Thankyou Margaret.

What an awesome time I had with Alison, her good friend Cath, and their sweetest little dogs, Bear and Grace. I had the opportunity to get my energy into gardening, painting, digging, cleaning and hours of great conversations that made it feel like my home. I planned to stay at least a week and ended up staying a month. The ladies were brilliant

I’ve found myself two new travel buddies and can’t wait to go back and see the progress that they’ll make. Thank you ladies and all the greatest of life’s adventures to you both 😘You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
