    Description

Hello! My name is Ingeborg, I am a retired woman from Berlin, Germany. I have lived in Castillon-la-Bataille in the Gironde region just 50 kilometers from Bordeaux since 2000. I am an active person who loves to cycle, swim and sauna. In my free time I like to see my friends in town, go to concerts, I love antiques and literature. I am open minded and relaxed, I take each day as it comes. I live with my partner Francois, an architect and pianist who lives between here and Bordeaux, and my sweet cat Tigrou.

Castillon-la-Bataille is a small rural town with a rich history in the heart of Bordeaux's wine region with beautiful gastronomy. The Dordogne river runs through the town, where I like to swim. The town has a weekly fresh produce market, shops, pharmacies, doctors, bars everything you could need.

I live in a large house which is 500 years old and has three stories. I offer the entire third floor to Workawayers which is equipped with a kitchenette, fridge, coffee machine, toaster, lounge area, shower and toilet and sleeping area. Workawayers are of course welcome to use the main kitchen downstairs which has an oven. There is a big terrassed garden with a sauna and jacuzzi which you are welcome to use if my solar panels generate enough power. I have grape vines in the garden, a fig tree, cherry trees, which I need some help with when the season comes.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I am very interested in hearing about different cultures. I can offer an immersive language learning experience whether it be in German or French, I would love to learn a little more English myself. We can go to local cultural events if they are happening - concerts, cinema, I can recommend things to do in the region or town as well. I love discussing life, philosophy, history.

  • Help

    Help

I would like to find someone to help me with small DIY projects, the garden and fruit picking. With regards to DIY, it would be great to find someone who is happy to do some painting of furniture, railings in the garden, and doors. In the garden I need some help with tidying up, pruning plants, and organising.

I can provide ingredients for you to have breakfast in your private kitchen, and we can share cooking and washing up duties. • What else ...

    What else ...

The train station is an 8 minute walk away, which connects easily to Bordeaux, Libourne, and other villages of interest like St-Emillion and St-Foy. I am in an amazing wine region with lots to try, and plenty of walks and cycle routes around. I am a member of the local pottery club which we can go to, and of the social international community here in Castillon.
