***Season 2026 is open now, Swedish summer is waiting for you! ***

    Hi,
Welcome to this site! Inspirational summer light in a beautiful forest with picturesque lakes and natural sounds expresses what we all seek: well-being and health. Are you tempted to join us and enjoy yourself?

Our property is only 10 km from the Norwegian border, near Lake Tvällen.
Since we acquired this place in 2014, we have worked to make it a pleasant place to stay, thanks to the efforts of our volunteers. Some became long-stayers, and some even sent siblings or friends, but we learned a lot from each one, welcoming new ideas and inspiring one another.

We have decided to pursue sustainable ways of life, such as baking sourdough bread, breeding chickens, practising semi-permaculture gardening, and carefully recycling waste. We gladly share our experiences.

We speak English and Slovak and are gradually improving our Swedish. We enjoy practising languages during calm evenings and are enthusiastic about cooking, mainly continental-style, but we also try exotic dishes. Robo is a good fisherman, and I like baking and gardening.

In our house, there are three cats.

There is no easy access to public transport. If you arrive by plane at Oslo Airport (Norway), we will pick you up at the train or bus station in Arvika or Charlottenberg (Sweden). Trains connect all critical travel hubs in Sweden. Visit the Sj.se website and search for destinations such as Arvika or Charlottenberg.

Living outside of busy cities isn’t for everyone. It's a remote forest, so be prepared for real Swedish wildlife :) Please write if you'd like to spend a few weeks hiking, watching wildlife, biking, fishing, kayaking, or simply pondering nature. It will make you a happy workawayer. And if you are alone, bring a buddy. We prefer couples for 2-4 weeks, with participants aged 21 or older. A group of 3 friends is also acceptable.

We look forward to meeting you!
    Dada & Robo

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

There are kilometres of marked hiking trails and interpretive walks directly in the area. You can borrow bicycles, or if you'd like to try fishing, lakes with pikes, perch, and other white fish are located right next to the house. We also have canoes, and there is a small pier for those who decide to swim.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for volunteers to help with basic tasks around the house, such as preparing firewood (splitting and stacking), home projects, painting, marking tourist paths, feeding chickens, and cutting down bushes and weeds.

Our ideal workawayer is an open, friendly and practical person aged at least 21 years. We prefer that you already have skills in similar work. Minimum stay is 14 days. Due to the different types of tasks, we prefer workawayers as a couple.

Please note that we are not a company or institution providing volunteer insurance. Although we will, of course, take every precaution to prevent accidents, we strongly recommend that you have travel insurance that covers manual jobs.

    Accommodation

You will sleep in a separate guesthouse—there are two bedrooms, a simple kitchen, and a bathroom. Bed linens and towels are provided. We often eat lunch and dinner together. We would appreciate help preparing the food, washing up, and finally cleaning the kitchen.

We have unlimited Wi-Fi. A mobile network to make calls is also sufficient.

There might be mosquitoes on summer nights, so we recommend using repellents (available in our house).

    ROWING AND CANOEING
There are many great places in this area suitable for boating or canoeing, whether for a day trip or a multi-day excursion. On lakes Tvällen and Kymmen or nearby rivers, there are many possibilities to spend a lovely time. There is a pier with access to the Tvällen for swimming.

    TOURISM
The best way to explore Sweden's beautiful nature and local cultural monuments is to take a bike or foot trip. An enjoyable experience is to take the "Path of seven farms" (7 torpsleden), which goes from Lekvattnet and follows the original trail of Finnish settlers.

    OPEN-AIR MUSEUMS OF FINNISH SETTLERS
The settlement of Ritamäki is one of the best-preserved farms. In the summer, they offer a simple refreshment—coffee and awesome, freshly baked waffles. There are many other settlements nearby, for example, Kvarntorp or Purala.

    SOMETHING FOR FISHERMEN
Lake Tvällen is a 5-minute walk from our property. In the surrounding area (up to about 20 kilometres), there are many more lakes, some smaller but some large. Welcome are especially the catch-and-release fans, who prefer the beautiful experience. We own two motorboats on nearby lakes and 2 more on the larger lakes.
