Description
Theresa:
Working with my hands is quite satisfying and gives me a sense of purpose. I appreciate the beauty around me, in sunsets, old brick buildings, flowers, mountains, and paintings. Before moving abroad, I enjoyed what I did. I worked at a preschool with my sister, played music, taught music to children, painted and created, went dancing, and played sports with friends.
I was quite involved with my community, so now living nomadically, I find myself even more seeking out community and human interactions. Without people, I lack inspiration, something I enjoy having.
Connor:
I am a computer scientist taking a year off to travel through Europe. I was born and raised in Minnesota, and we decided to move to Europe in the Summer of 2025. As much as I love Minnesota, I felt my world is too small if I lived there my whole life.
I enjoy nature, history, trying new foods, and I always make sure to travel with my camera to capture the moments. I tend to be more introverted, but always leave interactions finding I enjoyed them. My special interests are mostly machine related: cars, planes, watches, and cameras.
We are both musicians (Theresa: viola) (Connor: cello) but are traveling without our instruments. Theresa loves to pick up a ukulele and play if one is laying around. -

Languages
Languages spoken
English: Fluent
Spanish: BeginnerMore details about my language interests
Theresa: I am fluent in English, and able to teach it well. I've taught young children, so know what it takes to learn a language. I've been exposed to Spanish for many years, so I'm able to understand it ok, and speak at a basic level. I know when I'm exposed to it I will learn quickly because I already have a good familiarity with the language. Connor: I speak some German and love opportunities to practice. I can teach English, but I don't have much experience in teaching. -

More details about your skills
In my most recent job, it was at two small places my sister started, so I was a teacher, as well as a website designer, marketer, artist, and more. As it was just a few people my job involved creativity as well as working well with different tools, and interact well with the customers (my favorite part that made working worth it!).
I have worked with children for a decade. I am a freelance artist, playing the viola in multiple groups, and teaching music to children. I also make watercolor paintings (as well as acrylic when I lived at home). -

What else ...
I draw and paint different things along my travels to document memories and slow down. Since living nomadically and having fewer possessions, I make art out of objects I'd normally throw away to make my space pretty. Then I can easily leave the "trash art" behind when it's time to leave.
I would be so happy to learn different cuisines. I love to cook and find new ways to make simple ingredients delicious. At the same time it can be a wonderful cultural exchange. -
