Description
My name is Kim and I live in Rossland BC with my bookish 10 year old daughter and my energetic 6 year old son, both of whom attend the local elementary school full time. I work at the local hotel and love to engage with people from different places. Before I settled down in the Kootenays, I worked as an English teacher for several years in Istanbul and traveled extensively. Our house is full of music and books. We love to ski...oh and I suppose that I should tell you that both kids practice their violins most day, not for long, but you should be warned nonetheless.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I live in a picturesque ski town in British Columbia. Anything I need around the house is just a means to hitting the ski hill or cross country ski trails, mountain biking, and exploring the amazing the great Canadian wilderness.

Help
The main things that I am looking for from Workawayers is a combination of general maintenance to light construction around the house, snow shoveling and snow fort building, light housework and/or cooking and a small amount of childcare.

Accommodation
I have a large enough semi finished space in my basement that I am turning into a makeshift bedroom. Everything else (2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, washer/drier etc) will be shared with myself and my 10 year old daughter and my 6 year old son. Food will be included in your stay. I try to do a sit down family dinner Monday to Friday which you of course will be welcome to join. Everything else is pretty free style here, so we would make sure there was plenty of food that our workawayers enjoy in the fridge and cupboards at all times.
What else ...
Skiing, mountain biking, fishing, ziplining, natural hotsprings and any other outdoor rec opportunity you can think of can probably be found within an hour of this town. We have a free shuttle that runs from town to the ski hill. The ski hill also has a program where by if you volunteer for a certain number of hours for them they will pay for your ski pass. We have a city bus that stops outside our house and travels to nearby towns. And everything is walking distance in Rossland.
