    Description

    Hello nice volunteers,

One more time, we are going to create a new team in our lovely place in the south of France :)

Here, you will find all what you need to discover us and our projects :)

    About our home:
It is our private family home in a remote part of the Maures massif in southern France. We live off-grid, surrounded by nature, far from villages and tourist areas. Life here is simple, outdoor-focused, and closely connected to the land and the seasons.

We have long experience with self-sufficiency and permaculture, and we are in transition toward a small, non-commercial associative project centred on stewardship of the land, environmental awareness, and shared learning.

    Why we like hosting Workawayers
We host because we value cultural exchange, shared experiences, and the exchange of skills and knowledge. We enjoy meeting people who are curious, active, and interested in learning about self-sufficient living, permaculture principles, and rural life — while also sharing their own experiences and ideas.

Guests are welcomed as part of our household and as active participants in a shared place, not as workers.

    What life here is like:
Life here is calm but active. Days are largely spent outdoors and shaped by nature and the Mediterranean environment. Being comfortable with physical activity, simplicity, and quiet surroundings is important.

Because we are in a fire-risk area, awareness and respect for the environment are essential, and we enjoy sharing practical knowledge about living responsibly in this landscape.

    How guests can get involved;
Guests are invited to voluntarily take part in everyday life at Ambalao in a flexible and informal way. This can include being physically active outdoors, observing and learning about the land, exchanging ideas around permaculture and sustainable living, cooking together, and sharing skills and knowledge.

There is no fixed schedule, no required output, and no expectation of professional or trade skills. Participation is based on interest, motivation, and mutual exchange of ideas.

    What we offer:
We offer accommodation in our private home, shared meals, and a welcoming, respectful atmosphere, as well as the opportunity to experience off-grid rural living and to learn through exchange and daily life.

    About our family :
We are a very united family of 12 persons and a dog :)
My partner Rob and I share our time between our place near Paris and here, in the south.
My oldest daughter lives now in the city of Nantes in the west of France, with her husband and 2 beautiful sons, 13 and 9 years old. Before they were in Mauritania, after spending 5 years in Madagascar and 2 years in Bulgaria, Ethiopia, and other locations, they both work for NGOs.
My son was a naval architect, and he is converting into permaculture. He lives in Brittany, in the Golfe du Morbihan, with his beloved and they are proud parents of a 10 years old boy and a pretty little girl of 7 years old!
My youngest daughter, who is a young photographer, lives in Paris with her boyfriend but they love to come at every time they can and they recently bought a beautiful place in the mountains close to Mercantour...
And, the last person of our family : Looma, a nice and very very friendly Golden Retriever female of 10 years old !!!

    About you :

It's very important for us to keep the wonderful warm atmosphere we have in our teams of volunteers.

So, and this is very important, we are looking for motivated, easy going, active, convivial and respectful people.

Here, in a great conviviality you will share experience, conversations, laughs, music, cooking, meals, etc...

You will enjoy being and talking all together, after the day work, with a cup of tea, coffee, a beer or a glass of wine in the hand :)

Please, be honest in your description when you contact us, and tell us what you can offer and what you want from the shared experience.

Workaway is a beautiful and amazing experience, we are so happy to meet and discover people coming from everywhere and becoming a part of an amazing team!

Don't hesitate to ask me any questions you have!

Hope to see you soon, I'm sure you will enjoy the life here!

    Few more important things :

    - Please make sure you have full medical cover.

    - come with working shoes or boots (that are easy to take off !), working gloves and rainwear... you will need them (especially in autumn and winter !)

We'd like to know if you have read this far, so please include the phrase "this is at the beginning" at the start of your application.

For south of France, I think that it is not necessary to tell you how amazing is this region and how many things you can do and see there :)
And, near my house, the nature is beautiful, there are a lot of cute villages and many excursions to do, walk or bike to explore the surroundings.
