    Description

We are a Swiss family of four with a strong international background and a love for nature, adventure, and cultural exchange. Our main languages are English and German, but we all speak Spanish as well. Our children were born in Costa Rica and Mexico, and due to work we have also spent a lot of time in the US, especially Seattle.

We live a semi-nomadic lifestyle and enjoy connecting with people from different cultures. Both of us work in tech, and our two curious kids (9 and 4 years old) are open-minded, active, and fun to spend time with. Previous nannies and au pairs have described them as well-behaved, kind, and easygoing. They love outdoor adventures, games, creativity, and cozy story time together.

As a family, we love hiking, camping, campfires, lakes, and spending time outdoors. Honesty, kindness, and ownership are important values to us.

Our little chalet in the Swiss Alps is our second home during the summer. It is located near Disentis and Andermatt at 1400m altitude, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery.

You will stay in your own newly renovated private studio on the ground floor with a separate entrance and stunning mountain views. Renovated in 2025, it features floor heating, wood elements, a kitchen with dishwasher and fridge, and a modern bathroom with rainforest shower. The large terrace window fills the studio with light and opens up to the mountains.

We live upstairs, where you will join us for meals and family life. From the chalet doorstep you can hike, bike, swim, take cable cars into the mountains, and explore the region. A swimming lake is 15 minutes away and the train station only 5 minutes from the chalet.

We would love to welcome someone who enjoys family life, nature, and becoming part of our little mountain adventure for a while.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We truly enjoy cultural exchange and hope our Workawayer will feel like part of the family while still having their own independence and private space. You are always welcome to join our family activities — hikes, mountain lakes, campfires, cable cars, and exploring alpine villages together.

As an international family with connections to Switzerland, Costa Rica, Mexico, Spain, and the US, we love meeting people from different cultures and sharing perspectives, traditions, and stories. Our children are growing up very internationally minded, and we value these experiences deeply.

We can share languages (English, German, Spanish), Swiss mountain life, outdoor adventures, and insights into remote work and international family life. At the same time, we hope to learn from the people we host — from new ideas and traditions to creative activities and ways of seeing the world.

    Help

Your main role will be supporting us with childcare while we work from home. We are looking for someone kind, proactive, respectful, joyful, outdoorsy, and genuinely enjoying spending time with children. Experience in childcare or education (for example Montessori-inspired approaches) is a big plus. Please only apply if you are between 18–35 years old.

You will spend around 6 hours per day, 4 days per week, with our two children (9 and 4 years old), creating a fun, active, and engaging routine. Activities may include:
    - outdoor adventures and hikes
    - arts & crafts
    - reading stories
    - games and creative play
    - helping our older son with light schoolwork
    - supporting our younger daughter with early writing and counting skills

We value creativity, curiosity, nature, and meaningful activities over screen time.

As part of daily family life, we also expect support with:
    - preparing lunches and dinners
    - laundry
    - tidying up after activities
    - light daily cleaning such as sweeping floors, keeping the kitchen tidy, and putting toys away

We are a very active family, so we especially appreciate someone who naturally joins in, notices what needs to be done, and takes initiative — whether that means helping clean up after a hike, organizing the kids’ things, or simply contributing positively to the flow of family life.
