We are a couple of people who live during spring and summer in Torrskog - a parish in midsouth Sweden. The area is sparcely populated and surrounded by lakes, forests and some farms.
The farm is situated very close to to the lake Lelång and is splitted up in some old log houses, a pretty new main building, a workshop and a barn. We are even fiber connected, so there is WIFI internet that provides home office for some of us.
Three years ago I started to cultivate an endemic hop breed and last year we almost finished the hopgarden and the construction of the new main building; so this year I`m going to focus mainly on the plants and to get the first harvest. The cultivation itself is organic, extensive and adopted to all the different circumstances that dominate in that area. That means also that the maintenance of the hops is quite a lot of manual work and needs some time. So help with the cultivation and maintenance of the hops is currently the main issue. But here is even always to do some renovation with those really old houses (one is from 1750-ies), gardening or some other farm work.
Last but not least, most of those who hang around at the farm speak German, Swedish and English.

What you gonna learn is to observe nature and learn from it... and you gonna learn to know how plants "work", especially hops. And you will even learn some about to maintain and restore old log houses and a lot of other stuff that pops up when you live close to the nature. apart from that it´s a very nice area to learn to know the Swedish countryside off from tourism and civilization. There are lakes and forests and people with a certain easygoing way to live. We cook mostly with local and organic products and (when its not too windy) we lay out fishing nets. So you gonna experience a plenty beside hop cultivation.
I have started to cultivate an endemic hop breed in a sparsely populated area in mid south Sweden. The help I need this year is primary the the maintenance, cultivation and harvesting of the hop plants. The work itself is medium hard ;-). So you need some love for nature and some dedication for physical work. Its not required to work everyday but you need to be "standby" most days because you never know if nature asks for intervention. Finally there is even always some gardening to do and because we live in old log - farm houses even they need some attention. In the end it is always a very funny work with nice after work evenings.
Swedish, english, german,
There are several buildings made for separate accommodation, but kitchen and bathrooms are shared by everyone . We cook everyday and the meals are the daily come together. In connection to completed projects we celebrate at home or we drive to the west coast for a weekend
Under your time off you can hike and go fishing around the corner. There is even the possibility to use a canoe. In a bit more than hours by car you can visit Gothenburg or Oslo. In 1 h you can reach one of the small cities at the west coast. In Åmål, the closest bigger city there is a Jazz and Blues festival in the beginning of July.
