    Description

    Hi there!
My name is Amanda. I live in a quaint home with a big yard and garden on Salt Spring Island. I'm a new mum to a toddler, on my own, and we need support around the property.

Our exchange is currently available for a woman who wants to enjoy the summer here on Salt Spring in exchange for childcare with my sweet 3 year old girl.
Ideally you are kind, wholesome and have experience taking care of children 😊

    Length of stays:
3 months or so depending on how harmonious it feels for all.

You will have your own private cabin to enjoy, so you have privacy and space in all of your off time.

    Location:
Salt Spring Island, 5 minutes drive from town, in a forest-like plot of land.

The island itself is built on a Quartz crystal rich rock bed, with beautiful West Coast views of the ocean lined with deciduous trees. Enjoy kayaking, boating, or canoeing on the sea, or check out the various great trails for hiking. There are also several lakes for freshwater swimming and fun.

The island is inhabited by a great mix of people from artists, hippies, farmers, entrepreneurs, and outdoors folk.
Salt Spring is the most developed Gulf Island, having most of the things we enjoy from restaurants to health food stores, a Hospital, schools, and even a small airplane service direct to downtown Vancouver. But it also retains the peace and charm of a small town. A best of both worlds in many ways.

As described, Salt Spring is a pretty special place, one which it's nearly impossible to find accommodation to stay. So this is a big plus for those who want to experience its magic.
There's so much in the way of wellness events here from ecstatic dance every Thursday, to breathwork, to yoga, singing workshops, dance and more. If you're into or open to New Age or wellness things, there's so much here for you to enjoy.

I speak fluent English of course, and a bit of Spanish, and Swedish. My mother also lives on the island and she is Swedish, and will be visiting often so she's another cultural addition to the mix. I teach Breathwork, and run online education programs from home, so I can also offer a wealth of information on many personal development topics if you are interested.

If you're into the outdoors, there are lots of sports you can do here. Lots of wildlife to see ( I see deer all the time!). Hummingbirds visit the property, birds sing in the trees, and the garden is lush and full of life on the property. If you're by the ocean, you'll often catch a sighting of seals bobbing around not too far from shore.

*As a heads up, we are a carnivore household. We eat all the things here. If you don't want to eat certain things that's no problem, but please be open minded about how others eat. Meals are to be prepared family style, so if you have specialty items to buy to support your diet you will need to purchase those and cook them separately.
