Description
New permaculture project on 3 acres in Beautiful rural Leitrim.
There is a commercial size polytunnel and many outside organic vegetable beds.
for the last year we have been landscaping, tree planting, building the chicken houses and runs, hatching chicks, goslings and turkeys.
Carpentry skills, building, repairing, fencing, metal work, plumbing knowledge would be extremely welcomed.
There is potential for fun art and sculpture projects for the right person,and decorating etc.
This summer some beautiful vegetables are growing successfully along with new baby poultry.
Many wild plants available to forage,
and make
chutneys, cider vinegar, bottled fruit, fermented veg, dehydrated from
Produce.
During the last year, loads has been achieved inside the farmhouse and out including improved heating system, and digging large pond, clearing land and turning a rubbish tip into a little Japanese water garden. .
A lot further to go!
There is natural clay from the land to make pottery and sculpture,
No kiln presently although I do have ceramics background and some pottery tools.
If you can make a kiln let me know!!!
Plenty of art and sewing materials.
Cosy cottage with open fireplace on chilly evenings.
Comfortable warm bedrooms in the cottage,
camping space and caravan. Please state if you are willing to share with same gender volunteer: this flexibility will allow more chance of a space being available.
Presently I am not able to offer strict veg, other allergy or vegan diets.
Non smokers only please.
If you enjoy regular alcohol, this listing will not be suitable.
I live here alone with:
2 little cats, several chickens, young turkeys, goslings and 1 rabbit at moment.

I will share my lifestyle and am happy to chat, so this could improve your English,
Because I can accommodate several volunteers at once, you are likely to meet other interesting people here to work and share leisure activities with which could lead to ongoing friendships, as has been the case since I started hosting. Definitely volunteers have helped improve each others language skills.
I will share my knowledge and practical know how on building maintenance, gardening, cooking and art, so hopefully a great learning experience.

The main help I need immediately is carpentry and joinery skills. This is for a couple of small projects including making chicken tractor/ coop, hooks, shelves up,and other repairs and improvements involving wood. Also animal fencing.
Sewing: making curtains.
I have a sewing machine
Basic Plumbing / fixing guttering
Experienced gardeners who could share planting and land use ideas in a few areas.
Also ongoing digging, planting, watering, propagating, weeding, trimming hedges
Caring for cats, rabbit and chickens. For this,
some experience would be welcome and useful, but not essential.

Leitrim is a beautiful area of hills and lakes, ideal for cycling, walking and visiting ancient sites.
If I am going into town you are welcome to come along, and if I am invited to any gatherings or interesting local events, I will invite you also.
There are some beautiful scenic places to explore near here if you wish to go hiking and various local and national buses.
Sligo is a very lively town, full of restaurants, live music, clubs shopping.
There are many beaches near Sligo.
Carrick is also accessible.
We are 5km from nearest village with pubs, small shops and post office. Bus twice a day to Sligo.
Close to Uk border.
Nearest Airport: Knock, Ireland west.
Plentiful Trains and buses from Dublin and Dublin Airport to Sligo then bus to Drumkeeran or Manorhamilton.
Your own transport would be very helpful but not essential.A little more information
