    Description

I am a writer and a mindfulness teacher, although I am currently a stay at home mam who writes as a hobby, and my husband is a farmer and a vet. We have 3 daughters under age 6 who keep us busy every day! My husbands mother lives in a separate house across from, who is into gardening, looking after her hens, growing vegetables and herbs, and baking tasty Irish bread and treats. She is always busy doing something!

My husband farms cattle and sheep/lambs. We have hens that bless us with fresh eggs daily. We also have 2 alpacas who come stay with us for a few months each year.

Our house has 4 bedrooms, 1 of which will be yours, in the cabin at the opposite side of the house. You will have your own shower right across from your room. The toilet will be used by the kiddo's during the day when they are in the cabin as it's the closest one to them, but other than that, you are free to make it your own!

This will be our 1st ever experience using 'Workaways'. We have had aupairs before. However, we realised it wasn't what we needed as I want to spend time with my children, play with them, watch them grow. It's just difficult to do when I have all the other things around the house to try keep up with. We built our home 5 years ago, and there are still many things that are unfinished or need to be upgraded. For example, I just finished painting the downstairs bathroom. I would love to redecorate each room, especially the girls' rooms, now that they are older and have specific likes (Unicorns, Fairies, Rainbows!). We also have a huge outdoor area that is uneven and unused. I would love to level the ground and make a play area so the girls have somewhere to burn off all that energy! So really, we are flexible with what we are hoping to find. There are lots of different things to do here and we really don't mind what you would prefer to do, it all helps!! From helping with the general house duties, to playing with the girls, to painting and decorating, to feeding the cattle!

In exchange for your help, we can offer accommodation and visits to some of Irelands beautiful landscapes, castles, towns. If there is something specific you are interested in, we would be happy to help you explore that more. If you have an interest in farming, my husband would be happy to show you what Irish farming consists of.

We live 15 minutes from Cahir and Cashel, 2 places that are always filled with tourists. Ancient castles, many mountains and an immense amount of history at your doorstep, if you are someone who is interested in the outdoors and historic places, you will love it here.
However, if you are someone who likes hustle and bustle and city life, we may not be a good fit, unless you have the desire to travel each weekend to fulfill those needs!

If you think you might be a good fit with our family and our needs, or if you have any questions, we would be beyond happy to chat further!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Depending on what type of exchange it is, there is so much for you to learn! If you are thinking of starting a family, seeing how the 3 girls interact with each other would be a great way to test the waters!!
You are welcome to learn what farming looks like here in Ireland, plus we would be happy to take you to some of Irelands most beautiful and ancient places.
    Everything is up for discussion.

  • Help

    Help

We live on our farm and although it is beautiful, there are many unfinished projects that we would be grateful to get help with. From stone walls, to unfinished ground surfaces and the deep desire to build an outdoor area for the kids where we can put our trampoline, climbing frame and sensory garden. Other things that are unfinished are all inside the house; painting, decorating and help with making our house a home.

We would also be grateful for someone who can carry out general household duties, washing dishes, sweeping/mopping, washing and putting away the kids clothes are all things we'd be interested in getting help with in exchange for accommodation.

    Accommodation

We can offer a bright spacious room with a large double bed , a desk and chair (if needed) and a wardrobe. You will have your own shower right across from you. You will share the bathroom with the kids.

In regards to food, you are welcome to eat what you like and if there is something you would like that we don't have, we would be glad to get it for you. For breakfast, there is a selection of cereals with milk, bread/toast, jam, honey, eggs (you can help yourself in the mornings), lunch is usually a sandwich and fruit/yogurt, and we will all have dinner together. If you like cooking, you could cook some days and we could alternate days.

There are snacks and fruit always in the cupboard amongst other foods.

I'm not really sure about this one as we live on a farm with stock (cattle and lambs/sheep), and we have 3 outdoor cats, but we would be open to chatting further to see if it is something we can accomodate.
