  Description

  We are a community library located in the Comunidade de Bode, on the outskirts of the southern area of ​​Recife. The library works with book loans and also as a center for children and adolescents in which different activities are practiced: reading, literacy, environmental awareness, music, circus, educational games, capoeira and cinema - among other beautiful activities.
  We have a community studio where we produce music, audiovisuals and popular communication through a community radio station (A Voz da Lama).
  
  A standard week includes:
  - Opening of the space from Monday to Friday (from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00);
  - Preparing simple breakfast for the kids or cooking lunch for the volunteers
  - Regular activities of circus, music, capoeira, theater, screen printing shirts, reading and storytelling;
  - Community cinema with popcorn;
  - Spontaneous activities with external workshop leader (dance, music, circus, music therapy, jiu jiutsu);
  - Occasional trips to visit certain places with the children.
  
  Functioning of the house where volunteers live:
  - general cleaning on Monday morning;
  - general planning, evaluation and organization meeting and pedagogical meeting regarding children on Monday night;
  - basic food items such as rice and beans are provided. Each day, lunch is prepared by a volunteer (they usually buy the ingredients, if necessary.). Breakfast and dinner are up to you. Feel free to cook what you want but generally, food is shared.
  
  The weekly scale (distribution of volunteers and the house) is established at the general meeting on Monday. The preferences and wishes of each one are respected so everybody feels comfortable with their schedule :) Feel free to also bring in your own ideas!
  
  We look for committed volunteers who embrace our cause and who dedicate 100% in the combined period. For this is inevitable to work in collective and maintain the proper functioning. Due to our daily routine and knowing that you need an adaptation to live in our community, we only receive volunteers who stay at least 1 month (but preferably longer).
  
  We are a totally independent artistic, cultural and environmental association. We support ourselves in a number of ways, such as donations, the sale of shirts and bags made in our silk-screen shop and the production of handmade poetry books.
  Through the arts, culture and reading, our mission is to change the fate inherited by children created in a context of violence and trafficking, awakening a collective spirit in the community and encouraging each one to be protagonists of their own history.

  Nós somos uma biblioteca comunitária e espaço cultural localizado na Comunidade de Bode, na periferia da zona sul de Recife. A biblioteca funciona com empréstimo de livros e também como um centro para crianças e adolescentes no qual se praticam diferentes atividades: leitura, alfabetização, conscientização ambiental, musica, circo, jogos educativos, capoeira e cinema - entre outras lindas atividades.
  Temos um estúdio comunitário onde produzimos música, audiovisuais e comunicação popular através de uma estação de rádio comunitária (A Voz da Lama).
  
  Uma semana típica inclui:
  - Abertura do espaço de segunda a sexta (das 09:00 as 12:00 e das 15:00 as 18:00);
  - Preparar um café da manhã simples para as crianças ou cozinhar o almoço para os voluntários
  - Atividades regulares de circo, musica, capoeira, teatro, serigrafia de camisas, leitura e narração de historias;
  - Cinema comunitário com pipoca;
  - Atividades espontâneas com oficineiro externo ( dança, musica, circo, musicoterapia, jiu jiutsu);
  - Ocasionalmente tem passeios de visita em alguns pontos com as crianças.
  
  Funcionamento da a casa onde moram os voluntários:
  - limpeza geral na segunda-feira de manhã;
  - reunião geral de planejamento, avaliação e organização e reunião pedagógica em relação as crianças na segunda a noite;
  - O café da manhã e o jantar são à sua escolha. Pode cozinhar o que quiser, mas geralmente a comida é partilhada.
  
  A escala semanal (repartição dos voluntários e a casa) está estabelecida na reunião geral de segunda feira. As preferências e os desejos de cada um são respeitados para que todos se sintam confortáveis com o seu horário :) Não hesite em trazer as suas ideias!
  
  Procuramos voluntários comprometidos que abraçam a nossa causa e que se dedicam 100% no período combinado. Pois isso é inevitável para trabalhar em coletivo e manter o bom funcionamento. Devido a nossa correria de dia a dia e sabendo que precisa de uma adaptação para conviver na nossa comunidade, só recebemos voluntários que fiquem no mínimo 1 mês (mas de preferência mais tempo).
  
  Somos uma associação artística, cultural e ambiental totalmente independente. Nos mantemos de algumas formas, como doações, venda de camisas e bolsas feitas em nossa serigrafia e confecção de livros de poesia artesanais.
  Através das artes, cultura e leitura, nossa missão é mudar o destino que herdam as crianças criadas num contexto de violência e tráfico, despertando na comunidade um espírito coletivo e incentivando que cada um seja protagonista de sua própria história.

  Help

  We are looking for volunteers who are committed to social work and are interested in the exchange of knowledge, experience and wisdom.
  
  We expect volunteers to help with the house maintenance.
  
  Every Monday we have a meeting where we evaluate and plan the actions of the week, which runs from Monday to Friday from 09:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 15:00 p.m. to 18:00 p.m. And we also distribute housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and cooking, among other things.
  
  Out of formality, we are a community group that expects collective consciousness. We do not have a fixed schedule or tasks. Each is free to choose the activity / task in which to participate. However, the functioning of the group depends on the collaboration of all volunteers. With all this, a non-collaborative attitude will be put on the talk wheel of the weekly meeting.

  Procuramos voluntários que sobre todas as coisas, estejam comprometidos com o trabalho social e que sejam interessados no intercambio de conhecimento, experiencias e sabedoria.
  
  Esperamos dos voluntários ajuda na manutenção da casa.
  
  Todas as segundas feiras temos uma reunião na qual avaliamos e planejamos as ações da semana, que funciona de segunda a sexta feira das 09:00 as 12:00 e de 15:00 a 18:00. E também, distribuímos as tarefas de manutenção da casa como limpeza, cozinha e outras coisas.
  
  Fora da formalidade, somos um grupo comunitário que espera consciência coletiva. Não temos cronograma nem tarefas fixas. Cada um é livre para escolher a atividade/tarefa na qual quer participar. Porém, o funcionamento do grupo depende da colaboração de todos os voluntários. Com tudo isso, uma atitude não colaborativa será botada na roda de conversa da reunião semanal.

  Accommodation

  Simple house with shared spaces, a yard, a bathroom (cold shower), two bedrooms, one for the project staff and one for volunteers. Since everything we do is shared, we also distribute mattresses and hammocks in the bedrooms. We have a kitchen where we make breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is free for anyone to use consciously.
  We are an alternative home, where artists, travelers and independent workers live together in harmony.

  Casa simples com espaços partilhados, um quintal, um banheiro (chuveiro de água fria), dois quartos, um para o pessoal do projeto e outro para voluntários. Como tudo que fazemos é compartilhado, também é a distribuição de colchões e redes nos quartos. Temos uma cozinha na qual fazemos o café da manha, almoço e jantar, que é livre para qualquer um usar de forma consciente.
  Somos uma casa alternativa, na qual artistas, viajantes e trabalhadores independentes convivem em harmonia.

  A comunidade fica perto da praia (caminhando 5 quadras aprox.), do centro da cidade (15min de mototaxi) e relativamente do aeroporto (30-45 min de ônibus).
  Mas aqui no Pina há tudo o que se precisa: supermercados, lojas, lugares de açaí... ;)
  Recife é uma cidade muito rica para explorar e oferece museus, uma bela cidade velha, ciclovias, passeios de barco e uma quantidade infinita de eventos culturais, tais como apresentações de música e danças locais!

  The community is close to the beach (approx. 5 blocks by walking), the city center (15-20 min de mototaxi) and relatively from the airport (30-45 min by bus).
  Here in Pina there is everything you need, though: supermarkets, shops, açaí places... ;)
  Recife is a very rich city to explore and offers museums, a beautiful old town, bicicle lanes, boat rides and an endless amount of cultural events such as performances of local music and dances!
