    Description

Hi! My name is Sven, I’m 40 years old, and together with two Brazilian partners I started a small project, a kitesurf village in the beautiful coastal village of Macapá in Brazil.

Macapá is known for its consistent wind, wide beaches, and relaxed atmosphere, making it a fantastic place for kitesurfing and slow travel. Our goal is to create a place where people can combine work, sports, and community life in a natural and inspiring environment.

So far, we have built four large houses right next to one of the best kitesurf spots in the region. Many of our guests are digital nomads and remote workers, so we made sure the infrastructure supports that lifestyle. We offer fast 400 Mbps internet, a comfortable air-conditioned coworking space with monitors, and plenty of quiet areas to work.

Outside of work, the focus is on enjoying the environment. We have built a calisthenics gym park, and the beach is just a short walk away. The area is perfect for kitesurfing, relaxing, meeting interesting people, and enjoying the unique rhythm of life in this small Brazilian beach village.

This is still a growing project, and we enjoy hosting people who like to contribute, share ideas, and be part of a friendly and international community.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Macapá is a small and welcoming beach village, and one of the most rewarding parts of staying here is the opportunity to connect with the local community. Life in the village is very social, and it is easy to get to know local people through everyday activities at the beach, in small restaurants, or simply by spending time in the village center.

We try to encourage cultural exchange between visitors and locals. For example, there are opportunities to help locals practice English through casual conversations or informal language exchange. Many visitors also enjoy sharing skills or knowledge with people in the village.

Kitesurfing is an important part of life here, and we are involved in initiatives that help introduce local people to the sport. Sometimes visitors join activities where locals are learning how to kitesurf, which creates a great opportunity for exchange between people from different backgrounds.

We are also working together with people from the village on improving a small public square that we hope will become a central meeting place in the town. The idea is to create a space where locals, travelers, and the kitesurf community can meet, organize small events, and spend time together.

Overall, staying here offers a chance to experience daily life in a Brazilian beach village, meet people from the local community, and share experiences with travelers from many different countries.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for friendly and proactive people who enjoy being part of a relaxed beach community and helping to keep our place running smoothly.

The main type of help we appreciate is a mix of guest support and general caretaking. This could include welcoming guests, answering small questions they might have, and helping them feel comfortable during their stay. Many of our guests are digital nomads or kitesurfers, so having someone around who is approachable and communicative is very valuable.

We also appreciate help with small maintenance tasks around the houses. Sometimes this can be simple things like fixing a shower, adjusting something in a room, checking that everything is working properly, or helping keep the common spaces organized. Basic handyman skills are very helpful, but most tasks are simple and practical.

If you enjoy working outdoors, there may also be some light gardening tasks, as we are always improving and maintaining the outdoor areas of the property.

Occasionally, help with cleaning rooms or preparing spaces for arriving guests can also be useful. However, we already work with a cleaner and a caretaker locally, so if someone prefers not to focus on cleaning or maintenance, we can often organize the tasks in a flexible way.

We also enjoy when people bring their own skills and ideas to the community. For example, if you would like to teach something such as yoga, fitness, or another activity, you are very welcome to organize sessions at our place. If you enjoy cooking and would like to prepare meals for the community from time to time, that is also something people here usually appreciate.

In general, we value people who are reliable, practical, and enjoy taking initiative. The placeis still developing, so we are always happy when volunteers bring ideas for improvements or creative projects that could make the place even better.

The most important thing for us is to create a friendly and collaborative atmosphere, where everyone contributes in their own way and enjoys the experience of living near the beach.

    Accommodation

Volunteers stay in a private room in one of our houses, just a few minutes from the beach. The room has a fan and is simple but comfortable, designed for people who enjoy beach life and a relaxed atmosphere.

The bathroom is shared with two other rooms. Volunteers also have access to a shared kitchen where you can prepare your own meals, as well as our coworking space with reliable high-speed internet, which is ideal for anyone who works remotely or studies online.

Our internet connection is around 400 Mbps, and the coworking area offers a comfortable space to work before or after spending time at the beach.

The beach is about 500 meters away, which is less than 10 minutes walking. Macapá is well known for kitesurfing, swimming, and long walks along the coast. Nearby you will find small supermarkets, beach bars, and local restaurants.

There is also a shared washing machine available for use, and we have bicycles available for rent if you would like to explore the area.

The houses have a relaxed and social atmosphere where travelers, digital nomads, and volunteers often spend time together. It is a great place for people who enjoy nature, the ocean, and a slower pace of life.

From our side, in an ideal arrangement we would require less than 25 hours of work per week, for example 15 hours per week and provide a kitchen in which the Workawayer can cook their own meals.
