  Description

  Our hostel is located in Matavun (Slovenia), a small village just 300 meters away from the world renowned, Unesco protected Škocjan caves and river Reka. The hostel is small, 4 rooms can accommodate 18 people altogether, while in the camping area we have room for 10 tents, there are also two glamping houses. We have a small bistro where we only serve local, seasonal dishes, so we don't really have a menu, but work with whatever the farmers in the surroundings can provide.
  Our guest come from all walks of life and especially appreciate the calmness of the area and the good food we serve them.
  So, we cannot offer you the seaside vibe (although the beach is 15 minutes away by car and the river is 5 minutes away on foot) nor the liveliness of the city, but if you are looking for Nature's wonders, loads of walking or cycling paths, peaceful environment and great neighbours - well, we have that in abundance!

  Oh my world! Where do we begin? When you work in a hostel, you feel like you're travelling yourself. We had people form Ireland going to Australia with a jeep, British biker on his way to Kirgizstan, even an Italian going trough Europe on a longboard! They share their stories, perspectives and points of view and soon your world and your views start to expand, too!
  Not to mention, you will learn about the logistics of working and/or running a hostel.
  As already said in the description, our neighbours are fantastic, they are really involved in the community life and knowledgeable about the Škocjan cave and the river Reka.

  Help

  The schedule is flexible. There might be some days when we work longer, if someone checks-in later in the evening, for instance, but we won't be asking anything crazy of you and we'll agree on everything in advance.
  Your duties evolve mostly around mornings chores: preparing breakfast for the guests and cleaning the rooms & camping area and doing laundry. Of course you will also communicate with the guests, manage check-ins/outs, and help keeping the place tidy in general.
  
  We offer payment of at least the minimum wage of our country.

  Accommodation

  One of the two glamping houses are reserved for our workaway-ers. It is small, but really cute, it accommodates 2 people. The bathroom facilities are shared with the camping guest (no more than 10 people, but more like 5 on average). There is an outside kitchen you can use, or make your meals in our fully equipped professional bistro kitchen downstairs. Of course you can use whatever is in the fridge and/or pantry.

  What else ...

  In your spare time you can go walking or cycling on many paths in the vicinity, you can go explore the caves around, head to the beach or visit Slovenian attractions (don't worry, we have some hidden gems to recommend!). Italy is just around the corner, as we are located 10 km from the border.
  The transportation is limited, but we can offer you an electric bicycle and there is a shuttle service taking you to Divača train station.
  
  Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with a European visa, you have to be in possession of one (if needed) already before your arrival.
