*** Currently I'm fully booked for the next few months, but there are cancellations about 20% of the time. If you message me I will send my Instagram details and you can check on there for cancellations or just to visit if you come to the area***

***Update: Unfortunately the neighbours have been on a bender for over a month and make noise all through the night some nights. I'm hesitant to host people under these conditions because I don't want anyone to have a negative experience, please keep this in mind when applying. I'm really sorry for the trouble...***

    Hello there!~

I'm Max and I have a space at my home for anyone looking to do an exchange~

    ----------About the space------------

I have a spare caravan that I renovated a few years ago, you will either have the caravan all to yourself or a private room in the house.
The house is a 3 bedroom house, with a big backyard, just a couple hundred meters from the beach. Super great spot!
I currently have two housemates who live in the house with me (two girls at the time of writing this).

The garage was converted to a workshop/studio where I make jewellery & pottery mostly. You're welcome to use this space to paint and create whatever you feel.
There are plenty of surfboards for you to use depending on your skill level and I'm happy to teach you the basics whenever I have free time. I have a spare wetsuit that may fit also, suits someone 170-180cm tall 60-70kg.
I also have a pottery wheel, snorkelling gear, tennis rackets, lifting weights and other gym equipment, yoga mat, and more that you're welcome to use during your stay.
There are plenty of walking tracks nearby and the lake is also a short walk from the house.

It would be great if you have your own car for convenience, but I also have bicycles and theres an excellent track that goes from my place all the way along the coastline into town where the shops are. It generally takes 20-30mins each way.

**** Message me for my homestay Instagram @ and we can chat more there. I also post more pictures and updates on there ****

    ---------About Myself--------

    Max, 29 Male
I love picking up new hobbies and starting new businesses. Lately I've been doing silversmithing, and making jewellery using the sand casting and cuttlebone casting techniques. Otherwise I mostly just build/fix things, make videos, cook, read books and surf. I'm happy to share any skills with you that you're interested in, always keen to learn new skills too!
I've lived in my current house for about 6 years, and I've been hosting people through various sites since 2018. It's been one of the best decisions I ever made and something I'll do for as long as I can.
When I was younger (18-21) I travelled a lot overseas and volunteered and Workaway in South America.
Some places I visited include South America, Europe, Nepal, India, Japan, Indonesia.

*** Please note I sometimes dog-sit for a friend and also for my mum, it's not very often but if you have allergies or fears this may be something to consider.

    ----------About the help-----------

I made this listing on Workaway to get some help with maintaining the house I rent and also to give back to the volunteering community.

Most of the help is just to keep the house clean and organised so that everyone can enjoy the space as much as possible. I usually do all these chores myself but having volunteers allows me to spend more time working on my jewellery and upgrading the space instead.
I ask about 15hrs a week, but how many hours we actually do varies each week and it's mostly less than 15hrs. Every week is different and depends on the weather and how many projects I have for us to work on. As for schedule, 95% of the time you just work off a checklist and do things when it suits you, the other 5% of the time I will ask for something specific and we'll pick a good time that works for us both.
*Please note that I don't include meals in my offer, I'm a bit too poor right now to do that and I prefer people to help less hours and enjoy their time here more instead. We can still cook together and share food if it feels right.

    Tasks include:
    --Primary--
    - House cleaning
    - Mowing lawn
    - Help with jewellery making

    --Secondary--
    - Oyster mushroom setup
    - Maintaining/improving veggie garden beds and greenhouse
    - Setup composting system
    - Doing basic building projects (chairs, benches, etc)

Probably about 80% of the tasks are just simple house cleaning and yard maintenance.

    ----------House Rules---------------

Pretty straightforward, just be tidy in the shared spaces, look after equipment, and smoke outside the house.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

If you like water, then this is the location for you! On one side of the house there's Camel Rock Beach and on the other side is Wallaga Lake. There are some secret spots right on the lake that are picture perfect at sunset.
The area also has plenty of beautiful walks and little mountains to climb.
Nearby is my hometown, Central Tilba, which is a beautiful little heritage village. I'm more than happy to show you around. You can see seals in Narooma and Bermagui too, if you're lucky you'll see dolphin pods, whales and sometimes penguins.
