    Description

Our nonprofit farm is a retreat in the heart of the hilly "Bucklige Welt" landscape in southern Lower Austria. It is completely surrounded by meadows and forests.

We are gradually creating a vibrant community of people who live in harmony with nature on our site. This project exclusively serves people and nature; no commercial interests are realized here.

Our 5,000 m² (half-hectare) site is located on a south-facing slope. In addition to the residential area, which consists of two buildings, a large garden lies at the heart of our property. We use the garden to recharge, relax, find inspiration, and provide ourselves with nutritious food. Depending on the season, the garden provides healthy herbs, medicinal plants, leafy vegetables, and fruit.

We are investing our energy in further developing the garden and outdoor area. For example, we plan to build a round house to accommodate two people. We will also soon build a pond at the bottom of the property.

Expanding the residential buildings is also important to us. This summer, for example, we plan to build a communal bathroom and kitchen.

Currently, the three of us — Martin, Alex, and Jaco — live here with four cats — Ricola, TomTom, Cornelius, and Whoopy — a dog, Coco, and three chickens — Elsa, Pipi, and Raffy.

Jaco is a dedicated and passionate gardener and designer. For her, gardens provide a daily space for healing, connection and growth.

Martin is a technical allrounder and craftsman, nerd and notorious smartass. His hard skills are carpentry, masonry, electrical and water installations, plastering, painting, tiling,... His soft skills are embodyment, sensuality and community processes.

Alex supports the place by doing basic work and coordinating Workaway. He is passionate about exploring how communication and connection between people can thrive in harmony with nature. He has a particular interest in nocturnal nature conservation, i.e. preserving unlit nature at night.

It is very important to us that the people at our site feel comfortable. Although we are not able to provide financial remuneration as a non-profit project, fair working conditions where give-and-take are in harmony are very important to us.

In addition to working together, we value eating together with the volunteers in a sociable atmosphere, making music, and celebrating and enjoying life in the present moment.

What makes our place special is that you can experience mindful and reflective interactions with both people and nature. By living in harmony with nature, you can discover the meaning of a holistic approach to life. By interacting with plants, animals and other people, you can experience and understand what honesty, openness and love mean in practice.

When it comes to interpersonal relationships, connection, honesty and respect for boundaries are particularly important to us.

Having Workaway volunteers at our place gives us the opportunity to realise our vision with support, while expanding our view of ourselves, our project and our culture. We are happy to be inspired by Workaway volunteers and to learn from them.

We look forward to your attentive and conscientious support with basic tasks such as gardening, cooking and helping to expand our site.

One of our most important projects this summer is the guest bathroom and community kitchen. We would greatly appreciate your help with carrying, painting and assisting Martin, our professional tradesman.

We would also appreciate your help with preparing and processing food - like preserving, producing juices and making jams. There is also simple gardening work to be done, such as turning hay or picking fruit.

We always make time to make music together, and it is our heartfelt wish to continue doing so. However, even outside of these sessions, if you would like to practise, you are welcome to use our space! :-)

    Accommodation

As it is a core quality and a core element of our place to live consistently with nature, camping is the best way to get to know our place. We offer you the opportunity to sleep in one of our tents. We will of course provide a tent, bedding and mattress for the volunteers.

However, we would like to ask every volunteer to bring their own sleeping bag. We are happy to provide comfortable sleeping pads, such as sleeping mats.

Whatever the case, we invite you to enjoy the square under the stars at night as often as the weather permits :-)

We will provide 3 meals a day or the ingredients for the meals for the volunteers!

We think it's important to cook and eat together at least once a day. Lunch is the best time for this.
