Description
Come live in our beautiful British Columbia home for 3-4 months, from mid-March through most of June. We are 10 meters from a pebbly ocean beach overlooking forested mountains, complete with sea lions and the chance of whale sightings. Live in community with two writers and our two young children, help out with child minding and light house chores, all of us contributing to keeping the home running smoothly and happily while enjoying nature’s bounty. The home is 10 minutes, walk to the ferry and the various amenities of Bowen’s main strip.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Sarah and I (Jeff) look forward to sharing our passion for good living and lifelong learning around the dinner table, while crafting or drawing with our art-loving children, hiking through towering cedar trees or co-working in our sunny common room. We’re both busy professional writers, journalists and voracious readers always discussing and debating the latest ideas in spirituality, film, literature, social justice, feminism, etc. You're invited to join us for family breakfast and dinner every day, and to make your own lunch anytime. Travellers will gain experience learning about gentle parenting with spirited young kids, as Sarah and I are dedicated to putting these concepts into action every day — nearly all of us in the family are neurodivergent in some way, and kindness and celebrating our different gifts is paramount. Workawayers will also have daily opportunities to explore and care for one of the most stunning and livable ecologies on the planet — coastal BC marine life — which is part of the unceded traditional territory of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation. Come join us to collect litter/clean the beaches, or even volunteer with Bowen's incredible recycling facility, B.I.R.D. We can even meditate together when the kids let us ;)

Accommodation
Big room with plenty of sunlight overlooking the water. There’s an open area with a queen bed, and a semi-detached study. Big closet. Your own bathroom with tub and shower next to the suite.
The house is kind of miraculous. Surrounded by big trees overlooking the mountains, huge grounds, beautiful living room with fireplace, Floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows all around and large open concept kitchen. Very spacious. For more pictures, we can send you our bnb listing, which also shows the guest room.
We share big breakfasts and dinners every day, although workawayers are always welcome to dine separately or with us. Prepare your own lunches in a big kitchen full of ingredients. Help us think of new recipes/ingredients! We eat vegetarian a few times a week, although we also eat meat/fish/etc.
What else ...
This is a phenomenal location to explore one of the most beautiful parts of the world. North Vancouver is a 20 minute ferry ride away, for restaurants and art galleries and all other urban amenities. On Bowen, there are beautiful hiking trails around the house, lots of beaches to explore, mountains, kayaking, a fish hatchery, saunas, a few great cafés, and at least two delicious cideries. Check out the area on Google maps. You can also take a local ferry to many different destinations around British Columbia.
