Description
Welcome to our little corner of southern Istria!
We’re a family of four—our son is three, our daughter just turned one—and we also share our home with a friendly Lagotto Romagnolo. We’ve recently moved into our newly built house in Vinkuran, a peaceful coastal village just outside Pula, and we’re hoping to find an easy-going couple who would enjoy spending time in a home filled with the energy of a young family.
The area around us is full of nature and seaside spots to explore: forest trails, quiet coves, pebble beaches, and incredibly clear water. Within a few minutes you can reach Pješčana Uvala, wander along the paths around Vinkuran Bay, or head a bit further south to the cliffs and protected landscape of Rt Kamenjak. And when you’re in the mood for city life, Pula is close by with its Roman amphitheatre, cafés, summer events, and colourful markets—great for anyone who loves culture, food, and coastal living.
We’re an international couple who spent years in Berlin, and we genuinely enjoy meeting people from different places and backgrounds. Our home has a warm, relaxed vibe, plenty of good food, and a dog who’s always happy to have extra company. If you enjoy being around children, love dogs, and appreciate sunshine, nature, and good meals, you’ll feel very welcome here.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We’d love to welcome Workawayers into our everyday life and social plans whenever they feel like being part of things. Our home is anything but quiet — with two small children it’s more of a warm, cheerful kind of chaos — but it’s always friendly and inviting. We enjoy family dinners, relaxed barbecues in the garden, and having friends over for easy evenings together. When we feel like getting out, we often go for walks in the nearby woods, visit one of the local beaches, or explore spots in and around Pula. It’s a nice mix of simple home life and small adventures.
As an international couple who spent years in Berlin, we’re happy to share what we’ve learned about living between cultures, raising young kids, and settling into life in Istria. We can also pass along what we know about building a house, smart-home solutions, and we’re glad to help with practicing German or Croatian. And of course, we love recommending places to visit, local specialties to try, and beautiful corners of nature to discover.
At the same time, we genuinely enjoy learning from the people who stay with us. Everyone brings their own background, stories, and ideas, and it’s always interesting to get a glimpse into different cultures and ways of seeing the world. Hosting makes our home feel more connected and adds a richness to our family life that we really value.

Help
We’re getting the outdoor spaces ready for next spring and summer, so there are always a few small projects happening in the garden or around the house. We also appreciate an extra pair of hands with everyday things like looking after the kids, cooking, cleaning, and general household tasks. Because the jobs vary quite a bit, having a couple often works really well—one person might enjoy the more practical outdoor work while the other prefers helping with the children and the daily flow of the home.

Accommodation
You’ll be staying with us in our home here in Vinkuran. We share the kitchen, living room, terraces, and other common areas, so you’ll naturally be part of our everyday rhythm—kids’ energy, dog cuddles, and all the usual family bustle included.
You’ll have your own private bedroom and bathroom, so you always have a comfortable place to unwind when you want some quiet. The house is new, bright, and spacious, designed to feel warm and easy to live in.
Meals are something we enjoy doing together. We usually share cooking and take turns in the kitchen, so helping with preparing food and cleaning up is part of the flow. It’s a nice way to spend time together, exchange recipes, and enjoy good meals as a group.
What else ...
Free time and getting around:
When you’re off for the day, there’s plenty to enjoy nearby. You can spend time at the local beaches, wander through the forest paths, or explore the stunning coastline of southern Istria. Pula is only a short ride away and has everything from Roman landmarks and markets to cafés and summer events. If you love nature, Rt Kamenjak—with its dramatic cliffs and quiet coves—makes a perfect day trip.
We’re happy to recommend good local restaurants, hidden spots for swimming, or simple hiking routes. There are regular buses between Vinkuran and Pula, and having a bike or car can make it easier to discover the surrounding villages and coastline at your own pace.
How we live / house rules:
Home life here is lively and a bit chaotic thanks to our two little ones, but it’s full of warmth and good moments. We’re an open-minded, international couple who enjoy spending time with our guests, while also giving everyone room to breathe.
A few simple guidelines:
Be mindful of the family’s daily rhythm — naps, mealtimes, and the usual routines.
Take part in everyday household tasks.
Treat our children with patience and kindness — enjoying time with them is an important part of being here.
Keep communication open so we’re all on the same page about plans and expectations.
Above all, we hope our guests feel welcome and included, while still having plenty of space to enjoy Istria in their own way.
