Description
Hello Travellers,
About us! We are a family of four, our two children are now 18 and 21, we have been hosting workawayers for nearly 20 years, mostly on a platform called helpx before this. It has been a wonderful experience and we have many friends we still keep in touch with from hosting them. We live in inner city Melbourne and have a small farm and cottage in beautiful Buffalo, South Gippsland that we are slowly renovating and revegetating. We are both designers and interested in sustainable living and permaculture. We like good food and music.
Buffalo is a rural area between Meeniyan and Fish Creek in South Gippsland. 2 hours 10 drive from Melbourne. South Gippsland is famous for Wilsons Promontory National Park, amazing beaches (Venus bay, Tidal river, Waratah bay, Walkerville, Sandy point), many hikes and biking trails and iconic small rural towns like Fish creek, with great local pubs and cafes, art and music.
We are looking for Helpers that are handy and like to work outdoors to help us at Buffalo. Helpers need to be in a pair and have their own car, and be responsible and independent as we are not always at the property, and want people who are happy to have the place to themselves for periods. There is always work there to do, be it weeding, cutting grass, stacking wood, sanding and painting, planting, moving stuff around the property.
The main cottage is currently in the last stages of a renovation, but there is a studio with a kitchenette and a spacious caravan for helpers to sleep in. We are open to longer-term helpers who may want to stay over the summer, and look after the place while we are away. If we are there and providing your meals, then we ask for 3 days of work a week; if we are not, then just 2 days. You would have plenty of time to explore the area and enjoy the serenity. There is a possibility of spending some time at our house in Melbourne as well.
Hope to hear from you... We look at listings with references and photos, please. Thanks for your interest, and feel free to contact us twice if we don't reply the first time.
Thanks,
Megan and Tao
