    Description

Welcome to our stone built, two storey 200year old farm house with 7 acres of woodlands, river, pond, vegetable garden with a polytunnel and fruit trees in our garden. We also keep hens for eggs and two dogs to keep us company too. Our two college going teenagers live here sometimes also!
In the field beside our home is a self contained wood cabin where you will be living while you stay with us. Its really comfortable, bright and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Ideal for a couple or two friends travelling together, preferably with a car as there is no public transport service accessible to the cabin however there are bus and train options about 5 minutes drive from the cabin.
As both of us work full time you will be working a bit independently but we are always pottering about in the afternoons and weekends, as there is always something to do in the garden and polytunnel. You would be welcome to join us for some meals also.
We grow most of our own vegetables and have an abundance of fruit and berry trees also which we grow without using chemicals, pesticides or artificial fertilisers.
You would be helping us with sowing, planting and maintaining of the vegetable area as well as pruning, weeding, feeding the beds. There are also some small painting jobs and creative gardening projects that we would like help with. As we have our own woods you would be invited to help with the collection and stacking of logs.
If you have any experience working with stone it would be very welcome as we have out houses that need a little bit of replacement stones in places.
The river is at the front of the house and we swim in it during the summer months and can heat up in the sauna at the waters edge which you would be welcome to use too. Expect to see a wonderful mixture of wildlife along the river too.

You would learn about growing vegetables without the use of chemicals, harvesting and preserving them. Living in rural Ireland with plenty of space and nature surrounding you.
We are close to Sligo which has a wonderful creative atmosphere with great traditional pubs and music. Also there is access to great beaches, mountains and woodlands which are ideal for hiking. Sligo is also known for its megalithic tombs which are scattered around the county.
