Description
Hi from Santa Teresa, Costa Rica 🌊🌿
We are Melanie & Silvan from Switzerland and are currently creating our boutique project – a small, design-led hideaway above the surf with ocean views and a deep love for detail.
Santa Teresa is a unique mix of jungle, surf culture and creative energy. Everything is within walking distance – waves, cafés, nature and sunsets that stop you mid-sentence.
We’re looking for open-minded, motivated Workawayers who enjoy cultural exchange and being part of a creative environment. If you like contributing with light hands-on help, sharing ideas, learning new skills and experiencing life in a vibrant coastal community, you’ll feel at home here.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We believe cultural exchange is about sharing skills, perspectives and everyday life.
You’ll experience a mix of Swiss precision and Costa Rican “pura vida” energy. We’re happy to share what we’ve learned about building a boutique project from scratch — from design thinking and organisation to entrepreneurship and branding.
Outside of work, Santa Teresa offers surf sessions, sunset walks, yoga classes, small local cafés and a strong international community. You’ll naturally connect with locals, craftsmen and other creatives in town.
We’re curious to learn from you too — your skills, your culture, your way of working and seeing the world.
Help
We are currently in the final phase of our boutique project and are looking for motivated, hands-on helpers who enjoy light DIY tasks, creative projects and being part of an inspiring environment.
Typical tasks may include:
• Light furniture assembly
• Organising materials and storage
• Painting small decorative elements
• Gardening and landscaping support
• Styling spaces for photos
• Supporting with photography and social media
• General help around the property
Our professional local team handles all structural construction work. Workawayers support with lighter tasks and creative contributions.
This is a cultural exchange – not a job position.

Accommodation
We offer a private room in one of our units.
We’re still in the construction phase, so you’ll see some boxes and materials around — but your room will be clean, safe and comfortable.
The highlight? An incredible ocean view. You’ll be living above the surf, just a 5-minute walk to the beach.
We currently have a team of around 10 local workers on site, so there’s real build energy during the day. They handle all structural and technical construction work. We also have a cook who prepares local meals for the team — and you’re welcome to join if you’d like to experience authentic Costa Rican food.
You’ll have access to a kitchen and bathroom as well.
What else ...
A few important things to know:
• We work in a structured and focused way during the day. Reliability and punctuality matter to us.
• This is not a party house — we value a respectful, calm atmosphere.
• You should be physically fit and comfortable working in a warm climate.
On your time off, you can surf, explore jungle trails, join yoga classes or simply enjoy sunset views above the ocean. Everything is within walking distance.
We’re looking for people who truly want to contribute — not just stay near the beach.
If that resonates with you, we’re excited to connect.
