I am a dairy farmer in south West Cork in the region of Munster. We milk friesians cows. Our land is grass based for the cows and cattle. In summertime all the cattle are out grassing the green grass. The main type of work is milking cows, feeding cattle and general farm work. In the wintertime the cattle are housed, feeding with grass silage which is made during the year. The cows calving in the spring of the year from January to April. That is the busiest time on our dairy farm. But very interesting to see the baby calves arrive.
We live near of a very tourist area, the of Clonakilty. The countryside is very beautiful. With hills, sea and with landscape.
You would work with the farmer and he would show you how the work is done. We are interested how other people live and share each others culture. And learn new thing about different countries. We show you also the culture and tradition of Ireland. How people live in the community. We show you how people socialise and listen and play the traditional Irish music in west Cork.
We are looking for a motivated person who want to help outside on the farm. We bring in the cows in from the field morning and evening to milk them. Cows are milking in the milking parlour, twelve at a time. We press a button to feed the cows. We live near of the tourist town of Clonakilty around 4km.
We are interested in sharing cultures. A accommodation is living with the family, with your own bedroom.
You are welcome on our farm and we looking forward to hear from you.
Living with the family and you have your own bedroom, share the bathroom and meals provided.
On your days off, you can head to the beach, up the hills or into the town to shop or taste Irish food. Clonakilty is full of young people and different activities for weeks on end.
