    Description

We, Josie and Jonathan, have a homestead just next to Inanitah, between Santa Cruz and Merida.

We have built an epic greenhouse, and have quite a lot of organic heirloom seeds too. We are seeking a woman, a man or a couple with a passion for gardening, some good experience in growing food, a willingness to commit, show up daily Monday to Friday, take responsibility, experiment and learn.

The goal is to produce all the more-than- organic greens, vegetables, herbs and medicine needed here on our homestead, and eventually to sell the abundance. This is an opportunity to learn about organic food sovereignty as do not purchase vegetables to feed ourselves. Also an opportunity to learn about organic market gardening - and about generating a revenue from growing food.

You will initially be working under Jonathan’s management - but with a lot of autonomy and:

🍃 Make organic amendments to nurish the soil (homemade compost, worm casting, biochar, EMs, compost teas...)

🍃 Seed, transplant, plant and care for the greens and veggies

🍃 Follow biodynamic principles and calendar

🍃 Troubleshoot pests invasions and find solutions without the use of any chemical herbicides or pesticides

🍃 Delegate some tasks to our farm employees (some ability to speak Spanish would be good)

Eventually we are looking for someone who wants to and is able to work independently, without Jon being involved in the day to day.

If this is exciting to you, send me a message 💛 🍃

We have local farm and construction employees who do not speak English. A great opportunity to learn Spanish! They are very gentle in speaking to us so that you can both understand and learn.

People here are truly lovely, and a wealth of knowledge about simple living, natural plant medicine and so much more.

We live in between two volcanoes, one rainforest beautifully lush jungle with a crater lake and the other much higher and drier. Both are splendid hikes. Kayaking on the lake, swimming, hiking are all available and free. We have two horses you can ride to town.

Finally we have a rich social life in the village, where our community of about 100 expats and like-minded locals gather for ecstatic dances, diners, cacao ceremonies and workshops.
