Description
I am a Canadian senior lady and own this beautiful 21-acre finca near Granada, Nicaragua. The property is a sanctuary of palm trees, meadows, fruit trees, bamboo, forest, and hills, with sweeping views across the surrounding countryside and volcanoes.
I am looking for volunteers—couples, men, or women—who would love to stay there as house sitters for as long as possible, so the property does not remain vacant.
I would especially appreciate someone who speaks both Spanish and English and could help with translation when I am there on vacation, mostly during the winter months.
I hire local workers to take care of the maintenance and upkeep of the property, so the main purpose of having volunteers there is to have someone around and keep the property occupied while I am away or staying there. One person works occasionally during the season, two days a week. One volunteer stays on the property. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You will have the chance to experience Nicaragua while meeting local people and exploring the country on weekends, from beautiful beaches and volcanoes to nearby cities and lakes.
I enjoy cooking and sharing meals, talking, exploring the local area, and learning from each other. You can also experience everyday life in Nicaragua and, if you are interested, learn a little about the local culture and Spanish.
You will also have plenty of freedom to explore, relax, or simply enjoy your own time and do your own thing. -
Help
The help here is mainly light and practical. Tasks may include watering plants, gardening, cleaning, keeping the property tidy, and occasionally going shopping for materials or items needed for outdoor and indoor projects.
I would also love to do tasks on the gardens and make the outdoor spaces even more beautiful, so anyone who enjoys plants, landscaping, gardening, or creative projects would be very welcome.
There is no heavy or intensive tasks. The tasks will depend on what needs to be done at the time, and I enjoy working together and making the most of this beautiful place.
When I am there, I always have different projects planned to improve the main house and the rancho area. Hopefully, we will also be able to add a swimming pool fairly soon. We already have a small dipping pool area close to the house.
We only bought the property about a year ago, so everything is still quite new to us and there is always something different to do. Every day brings a new little challenge and an opportunity to make the property even more special and unique. -

What else ...
There is plenty to do in your free time. You can explore Granada, visit the Great Lake, see the nearby volcanoes, or take a bus to other places around Nicaragua. The beach is about one and a half hours away by bus. You can also simply enjoy the finca, walk around the property, relax in nature, read, or do your own thing.
It is about 1 km from Route 18, where you can catch buses, and around 2 km from the center of Diriomo. Granada is about 30 minutes away.
I am quite easygoing, and everyone has their own free time and privacy. I simply ask everyone to be respectful of the property and the people living here.
Smoking is allowed outdoors but not inside the house. Moderate alcohol consumption is fine, but please drink responsibly. No drugs or other recreational substances are allowed. No fighting, violence, or aggressive behaviour.
I welcome and respect people from all backgrounds and nationalities. I believe that living together with respect, peace, and harmony allows us to create wonderful memories that last a lifetime.
Writing is one of my hobbies, and I have published 12 books on Amazon so far. I also enjoy fashion, creating jewellery, and designing beautiful and inspiring spaces. If you are open-minded, enjoy living a little outside the box, and love life, nature, music, and creative environments, you may have found the right place. -
