    Description

My name is Emma and I was once a Workawayer too! I travelled the world volunteering and loved it so much I hosted Workawayers for 4 years on the beautiful Cycladic island of Tinos. Now Im back home in Australia with an amazing new project in the forest of northern Tasmania near Liffey Falls and the quaint country town Deloraine. My philosophy is a mix of mindful awareness, Greek Epicurian ethos and the respect for human effort. I juggle a lot of projects at once so need and appreciate the extra hands you will provide. I have 2.5 acres of landscaped gardens that while it is in harmony with the natural forest, requires some on-going maintenance to keep it looking beautiful. I need people with a can-do attitude and an appreciation for a job well done. Gardeners will love this property - it is truly magical.

I volunteered in India, Italy, Greece, and Cyprus and along the way had both good and bad experiences, so understand what it takes. For that reason I provide a higher than average accommodation (your own fully kitted campervan that you are free to use to go visit local sights and nearby beaches after work is done for the day and on your days off), I will provide you with healthy food for 2 meals a day, free of charge. In exchange, I expect you to be a fully independent adult, respectful of others, keen to do the tasks at hand to the best of your ability and a light hearted spirit. You will be a guest in my property so I also ask that you respect the need for privacy (the property is large with plenty of independent spaces to hang out).

My home is located in a very pretty mountain forest area 5 mins from the stunning Liffey Falls. We are surrounded by incredible nature walks, spectacular mountains Quamby Bluff and the Western Tiers. My property is 50 acres of re-gen forest and magical to walk around. I am learning all about the botanical history of this place and keen to share my knowledge as I learn more. Connecting with Tasmanian Aboriginal elders is also part of that journey and I'd love to share that with you.

20mins by car is the quaint village of Deloraine which has a supermarket, multiple pubs, cafes, post office, vintage stores, butcher and grocer. 50mins from my property is Launceston, a pretty, small city with lots of great restaurants, bars, cafes and all amenities, including the airport. The whole area is home to amazing small producers of wine, cheese, gin, whisky, flowers and organic produce.

Gardening projects range from building dry stack stone walls, weeding, planting to pruning of trees and shrubs under supervision. I am also planting vegetable crops and welcome volunteers with enthusiasm for organic and permaculture agriculture.

Im also keen to meet Workawayers who have building, painting and carpentry skills as I have lots of ideas for projects on the property and would love your input!

I am always keen to learn from our Workawayers so if you have special skills like building, gardening, photography, please let me know!
