    Description

Since 2020, we've been building an adventure hostel in the middle of the Baja Sur desert in the small surfing village of Cerritos. What sets us apart is the eco-responsibility of our entire construction process and our everyday life. Over 90% of our construction waste is reused and recycled. We do composting, re-use grey water, and human waste to create a small oasis and restore life to the arid desert soil.

Our growing variety of fruits includes papaya, pomegranate, banana, pineapple, guavas, guanabanas and much much more. We try to keep all the native plants and cacti that we have on our land by relocating them but also by doing some propagation. We believe that life on our property was here long before we were born and we pride ourselves on building around it and caring for it to make sure it's there long after we are gone.

The hostel currently features 2 Tiny-Living Bedrooms, a glamping tent arranged in dormitory style, and camping/VanLife sites. Baja Sur has very few rainy days a year, so our kitchen and bathroom are outside and offer everything you could need.

Permanently on the property is Libra's co-owner and builder, David. He lives here with his partner Francisca. Both manage the hostel while building if the hostel is empty for a few days. You can also meet our cat Rambo, who makes sure that fury friends stay off the property. I, Marie-Isabelle manage from Canada everything about finance, booking, and partnership. You might see me or not during your stay, my visits are really spontaneous usually.

    Help

We're looking for someone with a desire to learn about permaculture, to help us maintain the gardens and grow baby plants. We're currently still watering to give our little plants a chance to establish themselves and grow. This task currently occupies 2.5-3 hours of our precious time every 3 days. We're also looking for someone who can help us with the daily upkeep of the hostel, and possibly welcome guests. As mentioned, we stay on-site, you will be working with David most of your time.
The possible tasks at the hostel are enormous, so we're open to suggestions when you get there - from construction to social networking. However, the main task is to maintain the communal areas, look after the gardens and help for construction projects.

    Accommodation

During our high season (November to May), we have many options from Camping, Glamping or Van Site. You will have access to the rest of the property as the rest of our guests. We can always discuss the type of accommodation you would prefer.
For meals, we have communal kitchen where you can cook your own meal. As we don't have yet a restaurant, we cannot offer meal with the stay.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Our hostel is not a pet-friendly place. As we have already Rambo, we don't accept any more furry friends as much as we love them.
We have Satellite Wifi and surf for rent on the property. We can give you surf lessons (extra $) if needed.
