Description
We're a family-run Digital Nomad co-living and co-working space in Cape Town, and we're looking for a Community Manager.
Ideally, you're a digital nomad yourself — someone who understands that lifestyle and can help create a thriving, connected community here. We're building something we genuinely believe in, and we need someone who does too.
We're nestled in Kenilworth, close to cafes, shops, and easy transport. Kirstenbosch is 5km away, the beach 14km, and you're surrounded by mountain trails, wine estates, and adventure sports. Cape Town offers endless ways to live well and work well.
If you're a nomad looking to build community while you're here, we'd love to hear from you. 🌿🌊

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Cape Town is one of the most culturally rich and geographically stunning cities in the world — and living here, rather than just visiting, is a completely different experience.
As part of our community, you'll gain real insight into South African life — its complexity, its warmth, its contradictions, and its extraordinary natural beauty. You'll meet locals, share meals, and become part of a neighbourhood rather than passing through it.
Living and working in a co-living space also teaches you something valuable about people — how to navigate different personalities, cultures, and working styles, and how to build community intentionally. These are skills that travel with you long after you leave.
Beyond the space itself, Cape Town offers endless opportunities to learn and explore — from its history and diverse cultures to its food scene, outdoor lifestyle, and thriving creative and tech communities. The mountain, the ocean, the winelands, and the Cape Flats are all part of the same extraordinary place.
If you're a digital nomad, there's also real learning to be had in understanding how a co-living space is built and run from the ground up — the hospitality side, the community management side, and the business side. You'll be part of something at an exciting early stage.
Help
We welcome Workawayers as part of a genuine cultural exchange — not as employees — and we value shared learning, mutual respect, and clear expectations. Workawayers do not replace our local paid staff and are not relied upon to run the business. Final responsibility for all operations remains with us as hosts.
**Minimum stay: 2 months
Our Local Team
We employ paid local staff including professional cleaners, laundry support, and tradespeople as needed. Workawayers support and work alongside this team, not in place of them.
The Role: Community Manager
This is suited to a digital nomad who enjoys people, understands co-living culture, and wants to contribute meaningfully while they're here.
🫶ommunity Engagement
- Create and co-create engaging social and professional events with guests (minimum three per week)
- Foster a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere where people feel part of something special
- Actively manage the WhatsApp group to encourage participation and connection
Member Support
- Welcome every guest personally and make them feel at home
- Be the go-to person for questions, support, and resolving small conflicts
- Onboard and offboard all guests with care and clarity
Commitment & Collaboration
- Serve as the main bridge between guests, hosts, and the wider management team
- Commit to a minimum of 2 months to fully integrate and understand the community
- Share insights from the ground and flag issues or opportunities as they arise
Operational Support:
- Some operational support may be possible depending on skills and interest — this would be discussed and agreed before any collaboration begins
What You'll Gain
- Immersion in Cape Town life and South African culture
- Insight into running a digital nomad co-living space
- A grounded, community-focused environment — not a party house
- Shared meals, conversations, and genuine cultural exchange
Our Commitment:
Transparency, fairness, and clear boundaries. We value Workawayers who arrive with initiative, warmth, and a genuine interest in people and community.

Accommodation
You'll have your own private room, furnished with a comfortable bed, desk, chair, and free WiFi. Some rooms have a sunny balcony with stunning mountain views. Fresh linen is provided weekly, and there is a shared bathroom with shower and toilet.
Communal Spaces
Our Sunroom doubles as a cinema-style lounge, with a projector and screen and access to Netflix, Prime, YouTube, and more — a great space to socialise, relax, or unwind. A fully equipped shared kitchen provides everything you need, including appliances, crockery, cutlery, and glassware. If you need some quiet time, our peaceful garden is the perfect spot to unwind. We're also currently building a swimming pool and a simple gym.
And, of course, you'll meet our three cats: Alice, who’s a bit more independent; Mojo, always full of curiosity; and Lucy, the relaxed and easygoing one.
What else ...
Cape Town's food and coffee scene is genuinely excellent, with great cafes, markets, and restaurants within walking distance or a short Uber ride. The City Bowl, Woodstock, and the V&A Waterfront offer culture, art, and entertainment, and the city has a thriving creative and tech community if that's your scene.
The Cape Winelands are an easy day trip, with world-class estates offering tastings, food, and stunning scenery. The entire False Bay coastline is worth exploring, and Muizenberg is a favourite for surfers and swimmers.
Getting around is straightforward — MyCiti buses, the Metrorail train line, and Uber all serve the area well, making it easy to explore without a car.

Can host digital nomads
Absolutely — hosting digital nomads is exactly what we're set up for. Our 10-bedroom co-living and co-working space is designed with the nomad lifestyle in mind. We offer comfortable private rooms, a dedicated co-working area with reliable high-speed internet, and shared communal spaces where residents can connect, collaborate, and unwind. Everything is set up so you can hit the ground running — no faff, no frustration. Being in Kenilworth means you're well-placed to explore Cape Town without being in the thick of it. Good coffee, groceries, and transport are all close by, and the city's best outdoor experiences are within easy reach. We understand that nomads need both focus and flexibility — a place that feels like home without tying you down. That's exactly what we're building here.

Barbara was an absolute pleasure to host. She fitted in seamlessly with our household, which includes family, other Workawayers, staff, and guests.
