    Description

We are a family of four (+1 dog) living in our beautiful Australian capital Canberra. My husband and I both work full-time and juggle busy lives with our two children (7 and 3 years old). From June to August my husband will be away for work, and I am hoping to find someone willing to stay with us and help with school / daycare drop-offs and pick-ups as well as minimal housework. You would be helping around the house for no more than 15 hours per week.

We will provide your own bedroom, full board, and you will have access to a car (which you're welcome to use within reason in your free time) and most importantly - you will have plenty of time to explore our nation's capital! There is much to learn and see. If you enjoy bushwalking, hiking or riding a bike, you will find endless paths and beautiful nature to explore (including seeing plenty of kangaroos, cockatoos and if you're lucky the occasional wombat). If you love art, history and politics - visit the (free!!!) museums, galleries and Parliament House. Canberra is a lovely city, with a bustling coffee and food culture, three Universities and lots of people from all backgrounds. Sydney is a 3 hour drive from here and the closest beach 2 hours by car, weekend trips are easy and affordable.

We have had the pleasure of hosting Au Pairs before and enjoy having people stay with us who like to become part of our daily family life. However, we also understand the need for privacy and retreat and want to make sure that you have a great experience here and feel at home, while experiencing the Aussie lifestyle.

Our children are bilingual (English and German) as I am from Germany originally. They are active and fun, sometimes cheeky but also creative and loving. If you'd be keen to spend some time in Canberra and with our family, send us a message and tell us about yourself!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Learn about Australia and experience the nation's capital. While being from overseas myself (as many Australians are), I have been living here for more than 15 years and am keen to share the Aussie culture with you.

In Canberra, there are plenty of things you can do to fully immerse yourself in the culture, it is easy to connect with other people through sport, hobbies or by joining a neighborhood group.

Being from Germany myself, I would love to host a german speaking Workawayer, but will also consider people from other backgrounds.

  • Help

    Help

    Childcare and housework:
Drop off my daughter at school (8.30am - 9.00am), pick her up and look after her and her brother (4.30pm - 6pm), Mondays - Fridays.
Some flexibility required as my work schedule can involve some early starts or as I may need some help on the weekends, however, this will be agreed upon with plenty of notice and will not surpass 15 hrs of work per week.
Light housework may involve unpacking the dishwasher, hanging up some washing, tidying up with the kids or sweeping the house. Anybody who has had experience looking after kids and enjoys playing with them and spending time with them would be suitable. We have a large (but old) dog living with us, so you must be comfortable with dogs.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will have your own bedroom in our inner-city town house, with linen, towels etc provided. We will share the rest of our house and garden with you. Board will be provided, we eat a normal healthy diet, cook fresh every day but also have the occasional treat. We are happy to cook with you or accommodate some dietaries. If you love baking, you will have two keen little helpers who will be delighted in making amazing creations with you.
We live close to public transport, only 5 mins away from the city centre. You will have access to a car (and will be required to drive), so an international drivers license is a must.

Our house rules are simple: no smoking, no drugs, no strangers. We are respectful with each other, honest and fair.
I am a tidy and clean person and value people who keep their living spaces neat and tidy as well.
