    Description

We are a Spanish family of 4 humans, 3 dogs and some horses who live between the mountains and the beach in rural Asturias. After the pandemic, we decided to flip our lives and move to the nature so we could give our kids (4 and 8) the life, skills and knowledge we believe are essential nowadays. We live in a 100 year old stone house that we have restored little by little and now we are in the process of creating a permaculture project/farm/sanctuary in a big piece of paradise, with lots native forest and amazing nature surrounding us.
Our house is located 15 min away from both Gijón and Villaviciosa (bus stop in walking distance) in "La Marina" area, very close (less than 10min) to Playa España, a famous surf hotspot in Asturias.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are conveniently close to all major cities in Asturias, but the most interesting things happen around us in the nearby villages and friendly projects. Now, during the summer, you can attend the traditional "fiestas de prao" (meadow parties) each weekend, with amazing food and music. We are surrounded by awesome beaches and hiking routes which you can surely explore in your free time.
But if you are more a homely person, we love staying at home doing creative and DIY projects, restoring old furniture, gardening, cooking and baking all kind of delicious stuff or just playing with our kids, so if you would like to learn some slow-living tricks, this is your place to be :)

  • Help

    Help

At the moment, the help we need is to finish restoring with Bioconstruction and sustainable techniques some bits of the house (i.e. the garden shed and the hórreo), to clean and shape the lands and the forest (i.e. making paths, getting rid of "forest trash" and cutting/transporting wood from the fallen trees, doing some vegetable garden tasks...), to clean and prepare the stables (we need to empty it in order to repair the floors and the roof) and to take care of the animals (including dog training, if you like). Perhaps some occasional child care if you enjoy playing with very funny and creative kids or if you want to learn Spanish the best possible and organic way.

We ask for 5 hours of help each day, in return we offer you all meals -of amazing Spanish and international homemade food, while you can stay in our beautiful and cozy guest house. We prefer couples but we are open to any suggestion.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have prepared a beautiful guesthouse in our creative workshop, with all the commodities (fridge, microwave, heating, toilet, hot water, towels and bedding...), where you can live during your stay. But if you prefer you can also park your camper van or set your tent in our lands and just use the amenities when needed.

Our idea with meals is to offer you flexibility, so you could (for example) have breakfast at your own pace and then join us for work and for the main meal and then enjoy free afternoon and join us or not for the family dinner (we have late timings, Spanish style...). We eat all kinds of food, we try to make it as local/ecological as possible, but our kids sometimes want hotdogs or pizza and that is fine. We are flexible and we can adapt some of our meals to vegetarian/vegan during your stay, but you will also have a kitchenette with fridge in the guesthouse so can store/cook your own food if you choose more freedom or have special needs...
