Description
We are Nuccio and Christina (with grown-up kids visiting now and then) living in a Trullo in Valle d'Itria in Puglia, surrounded by 2 hectars of land planted with garden, vegetable garden, orchard and olive trees. We have 9 cats, are building a chicken pen, tilling a patch planted as permaculture, and are trying to live in a more sustainable way, We eat as much as we can from our own garden or from other self-producers. Except for Christina, who earns some cash as a translator and language teacher, although not full-time, we are focused on farming our land. We love being outdoors, meeting people, and eating good and healthy stuff. We think growing what you eat helps to live in a more nature-friendly way and according to a more nature-friendly pace. We want to share this vision of life with people who are interested to walk a little leg of our path with us.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We try to eat our own products or from other organic producers around our area as much as we can and process garden produce, so they can learn how to cook them and make preserves, jams, dried vegetabes and fruit, fermented vegetables.
In the garden they can learn about pruning, soil care for healthy plant growing, permaculture, how to grow legumes, how to save water in the garden, how to do something slowly with all the care it deserves so that you can feel rewarded by the outcome. Christina also has her daily yoga practice and is willing to share it.
Obviously, you can learn some DIY skills, as these are part of what Nuccio does on a daily basis.
They can also see what a trulli landscape looks like. Trulli were ancient buildings spread all over the Mediterranean, but now the still existing and still inhabited ones are mostly located in our area.
We are also close to several hiking and cycling trails (Cammino Materano, Via Francigena, Ciclovia dell'Acquedotto Pugliese...), for those wishing to match a stay with us with an experience on the trails.Help
Right now we need help in the garden for summer work and possibly to do maintenance and build some new farming facilities (like the chicken pen, an additional shed, dry-stone wall mending etc.).

We have a little guest room with a double bed (bedding provided) a table and chair, a couple shelves where to store personal items. Bathroom is shared. There is the possibility for travellers to set up their tent in the garden.
Traveller prepare their own breakfast in the kitchen, coffee, tea, bread, butter, jams, eggs, oats freely available.
Lunch and dinner are usually prepared by Nuccio, any help is welcome for preparation and washing up, we have dinner together in the kitchen. What else ...
Time off can be spent on the grounds, we have wi-fi, a little soaking tub for the summer months. We have a bike that usually needs some maintenance before it is possible to use it, the nearest towns (Locorotondo, Cisternino) are at 4 km distance. There helpers can find public transport to the surroundings (Ostuni, Martina Franca, Fasano, Monopoli, Taranto, Lecce, the beach...). We are willing to offer transport to town a couple of times a week.
We are happy if helpers come with us for an occasional cappuccino or invitation at friends or other events we go to.
We are friends with a nearby commune project called Urupia.
We have been wwoof members since 2009 and have hosted 5-6 wwoofers a year.A little more information
