Description
Hi, we are Vicky and Tim. I am an architect and Tim owns and runs a boutique cinema and restaurant. We are quite an active family who enjoy outdoor sports and activities as well as travel, gardening, cooking, reading and movies. We are based just on the edge of Martinborough Wine Village near Wellington. We have an acre and a half with a large organic vegetable garden and cut flower gardens. We have a swimming pool, spa pool, tennis court, outdoor fire and bikes available for use. We have a spare room with a shared bathroom. Two of our children are away overseas and the other two attend boarding school during the weekdays. We have two very friendly dogs - a border collie and a west highland white terrier.

The Martinborough area has a lot to offer - from the New Zealand wine scene to natural resources and the wild south coast. I am an architect and we own a boutique movie theatre and restaurant. We would hope that there would be an exchange of good conversation and ideas, a few laughs as well as an insight in to life in a country village in New Zealand. In addition to this will be the opportunity to learn or discuss methods of growing food using organic, no dig principles.
Help
We need help with the gardens, some painting and with some outdoor and indoor construction projects we will be undertaking over the next couple of months. Also some general maintenance, cleaning and cooking at home too.

Accommodation
A spare room in our house - with a shared bathroom. The bedroom looks out on to the garden. We have a swimming pool and spa available for use as well as a tennis court/racquets etc. We have good Wi-Fi. The living areas are generous and we also have a large out door area for relaxing during the day. We will provide a cooked meal every night and supplies to make breakfast and lunch. Everyone will share the responsibility for cleaning the dishes after dinner or will clean up after themselves if making food.
What else ...
Martinborough is full of great cafes and eating places. Public transport and a bus connecting to the train to Wellington is on our street. We also have bikes available and it is a walk in to the village centre. Biking around the vineyards and wine tasting is very popular here. Also there is a seal colony and cape Palliser lighthouse nearby as well as hiking in the Remutaka and Tararua mountains. The Patuna Chasm is also very popular with visitors and is very beautiful. There are several free walks you can do from the house. There is a yoga studio nearby for yoga and Pilates. There are plenty of places here for a home practice too.
