We are avid travelers and love meeting people from all over the world. Besides tea drinking and experimenting in our garden, we do coaching, travel consulting, and fun little projects like building a squirrel feeder or bigger ones like designing tiny houses. Our home is surrounded by massive evergreen trees, with a forest as backyard. My husband has a severe back injury and I am expecting a baby very very soon, so we could use some extra muscles for a few days : )
Types of help and learning opportunities
Gardening
DIY and building projects
Help around the house
General Maintenance
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Traveling tips (I am from Europe. Sheen has traveled through 80 countries), simple living, practicing your French, exploring the surrounding nature...
We could use some help around gardening, keeping the property clean... (lots of pine needles to sweep every other day)
We're looking for a capable man who enjoys working outdoor : ) but who isn't afraid of some extra cleaning tasks such as cleaning a few windows, the kitchen cabinets doors, the car...
For 1 week or even a few days would be great (baby coming soon, we can't commit to longer stay). About 3h/day (5 days a week) so you can enjoy afternoons, evenings, and weekends to explore.

What else ...
Our home is ideally located in Lake Forest Park (10 miles North of Seattle). Close to public transportation (express bus downtown) as well as walking, biking and running trails nearby. Right in the middle of 3 National Parks so you can enjoy beautiful hikes, wild beaches and parks nearby : ) Plenty of flora and fauna if you enjoy bird-watching with bald eagles fishing at the lake down the street. If you love nature as much as we do, Seattle is the place to be. We're relatively new to the region but have already hosted many travelers so we can tell you where to go, what to do, while in the region. We’re social but we respect your space and privacy. If we invite you on a hike or for a bonfire, and you decline, we won’t be offended.
Note that we rent the bottom space on an online rental website so we try to keep it quiet at night. It's a quiet neighborhood in the greenest part of the Seattle area. If you are the party type, you might get bored ;) but downtown is about 30 minutes by bus.
I spent several hours one day meeting this wonderful family. We had tea together and shared numerous travel stories, discussed my travel plans, and I was able to help them on a project with my knowledge of civil engineering. I felt so welcomed by their immediate friendly hospitality and genuine curiosity about me and my life story. Little K is so… read more sweet and very friendly, smart, respectful, and expressive.
Their house is perfectly located. It's a quiet area surrounded in tall fir trees, but it's not a far walk to the bus that goes south to Seattle, and east to Kenmore, Bothell, and Woodinville, which are all great cities full of hundreds of coffee shops, breweries and wineries. It's near the lake for swimming, bike paths for long bicycle rides, and several parks for nature and hiking.
I really enjoyed meeting you all. I hope to see you again!

We got to meet Andy before his next adventure abroad. He's quite the traveler and with a nice, easy-going, and genuine personality, he'd fit pretty much anywhere! He seems to be great with kids as well (little K still talks about you:)) Being a native French speaker, I can attest of his fluency and I was actually impressed by his pronunciation.… read more It's also impressive that at his age, he successfully set up an awesome non-profit program in Africa. Clearly, he loves meeting other cultures and stay in one place long enough to actually get a real sense of the local culture (which isn't that common among travelers). Anyway, great encounter.
Thanks Andy for the help and engineering tips! Let's stay in touch!
Happy travels, Heloise & Sheen
