Description
We are a French family with 3 boys (born in 2012, 2014 and 2017), living in Norway since 2009. In 2022 we bought a small farm that we want to turn into a permaculture homestead with plenty of fruit trees, berry bushes and vegetables, as well as facilities for nonprofit hosting.
Valentin and I (Celine) work on the other side of the fjord and the afternoons / evenings are filled with activities for the kids in which we also engage. Our scarce remaining free time goes to the farm project and to outdoor activities (running, skiing, hiking, cycling, grilling in the woods, mushroom picking, fishing, +++), which we gladly share with our visitors to help them exploring our little piece of Norway as part of what we can offer (both tips, gear and shared experiences). In return to this commitment, however, we do expect efficient help. We are particularly interested in handy people with initiative.
We both speak fluently French, English and Norwegian, the kids speak French and Norwegian and some English (age-dependent). We also have a dog, a cat and a few chickens. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We gladly share outdoor experiences and the best of the Norwegian culture seen from a French family's eyes.
The place we live in is a wonderful landscape, a village with historic heritage (boat building) and an interesting community. -

Help
A variety of tasks, some of which are season-dependent, repetitive and somewhat physically demanding like weeding, mowing and painting. Experienced visitors can help with more advanced and constructive tasks in gardening, light DIY on buildings and various DIY projects.
We will be glad to share dinners with you and the cooking and washing will also be shared. Our family is however very busy in the afternoons, the kids having many activities (sport and music). The schedule is therefore tight sometimes and we hope you can adapt and follow along :-)
The children are now big enough and independent: they don't need babysitting. However a good feeling with teenagers, and liking to play board games with them is always appreciated.
From November to March, it is winter here, the garden is sleeping and it's getting too cold for working outdoors. We won't host any workawayer during this period.
House & pet sitting can also be actual when we are traveling to France, upon agreement. Next period will be posted here (currently unknown). -

Accommodation
We have a guestroom in our house with a double bed. We might be able to set up a large tent if you prefer to have more privacy / wildlife experience.
We want to share the dinners with you. Breakfast and lunch might be taken together or separately depending on our schedules. -
What else ...
Trondheim is the 3rd largest city in Norway. A bus takes you there in about 1 hour. You can borrow bikes from us to visit the village, reach the starting point of beautiful hikes or many beaches. We live along a natural reserve were you can observe birds.
