  🌿 Welcome to my little paradise in Central Portugal – Serra da Estrela 🌞
  Hello Workawayers!
  I’m Monica, an Italian illustrator who traded the busy city life for a quieter, more creative life surrounded by nature.
  I live in a beautiful old stone house that’s been lovingly restored — with a modern kitchen, a cosy bedroom and a fully renovated bathroom for guests to enjoy. The house sits among vineyards and olive groves, with spectacular mountain views and a peaceful atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to slow down, reconnect with nature and help with a meaningful project.
  I’m now finishing up a few small DIY touches and would love some help from dedicated, easygoing and independent volunteers. There’s always something creative or hands-on to do — from gardening and small renovation details to helping in the orchard or taking care of plants.
  You’ll have:
  🌻 Your own private room and bathroom
  🌻 WiFi (great for remote workers)
  🌻 Access to two mountain bikes for exploring the area
  🌻 Plenty of beautiful walks and quiet time in nature
  There’s no public transport nearby, so having your own means of transport helps you feel free to explore. I see Workaway as a cultural exchange — we’ll share ideas, work together, and also have our own time and space.
  Since I was a Workawayer myself for many years, I truly value the spirit of cooperation, curiosity, and good energy. 💚
  Who I’m looking for:
  Positive, respectful, open-minded people with good energy, some experience with DIY or gardening, and who enjoy being part of a small, peaceful environment.
  Before longer stays, I usually suggest a one-week trial period to see if it’s a good fit for both sides.

  I have an extended multi language library, space for painting and getting creative.
  I'm a good cook and can teach how to make hand made pasta (gnocchi, tagliatelle, orecchiette ect)
  I live in a quiet and very small village where everybody take care of each other,
  The closest town, Seia, is just 2 km away and has a very nice and modern cinema witch I frequent very often
  Serra da Estrela national park offers plenty of hikes, scenery views, river beaches, perfect picnic spots.

  Help

  The main house was built in the beginnings of XX century and has all its original wooden features almost untouched. The interior needs some finishing, sanding, painting, cleaning. I also need help in moving stuff around (no big stuff, just boxes). The main tasks by the local construction company have been done (bathrooms kitchen and rooftoop). The garden needs weeding and get the vegetable area prepared for winter...
  
  Specifically: sand and paint wood, minor woodwork, painting old cabinets, help prepare the no dig garden beds for the next season (micro dip irrigation), organizing tools in the workshop.
  
  Max 25 hrs work a week, meals provided

  What else ...

  Plenty of woods in the surroundings to go walking-running-biking . I have two bycicles you can borrow.
  Serra da Estrela National park is only 25 min drive away and offers spectacular hikes, if I'm free I'm happy to hike. At the top there is a little ski slope active all winter. (2000 mt a.s.l.)

  I have a courtyard but the access is a bit difficult for big campers, although there is a very quiet spot 100mt. away from the house, friends with camper already slept there and the few neighbours were happy about it.
