    Hiking:
Recent workawayers have really enjoyed hiking the trails - there are mountain hikes - and also easier trails, including a cave hike.

    Glacier:
Visit a glacier and see the moraine, plus the clear turquoise water.

    Glacial Lakes and Swimming:
Stunning lakes nearby - some of the most photographed lakes in New Zealand. Lake Tekapo, Lake Pukaki, Lake Opuha, and the Ashburton Lakes.

    Swimming:
Several local swimming spots, plus as mentioned above, you can take a swim in the blue / turquoise water of the beautiful glacial waters - so unique!

    Skiing and Snowboarding:
Several ski resorts nearby - Roundhill in Tekapo and Mt. Dobson.

    Mount Cook:
Mount Cook is an easy drive from here of approximately 50 minutes to the amazing Lake Pukaki to see Mt. Cook and then 30 more minutes to the scenic Mt. Cook Village.

    Ocean Beaches:
The beautiful Caroline Bay beach (rated one of the best in NZ) is nearby in Timaru. You can also see the world's smallest penguin in the wild at this beach.

    Peel Forest:
Gigantic 1000 year old ancient Totara trees - and also several waterfalls within easy hikes.

    Fishing and riverside walks:
Lakes and streams abound for fishing! We have equipment to loan you.

Laundry facility included (we are happy to provide laundry liquid as well).

We will provide you with all gear needed for helping here - boots, overalls to protect your clothing, safety glasses, gloves, and any gardening tools needed for the tasks.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Please note that we can only accept workawayers with their own camper / RV.

    Native trees and birds abound.

    Our place is not luxurious.

    Food:

We are happy to buy you food that you like and allow you to choose your own food for your breakfasts and lunches (and dinners if you prefer). The caravan has cooking facilities.

Kristi is happy to make dinner for you.

We do eat meat, but if you are a vegetarian we are happy to be respectful and accommodating as much as possible.

You're welcome to pack food from here if going on a hike or a day out.

    Respectful atmosphere:
We are really happy to open up our farm and hospitality to you! We are a helpful and accommodating family.

We feel to work best for both you and us it is a good idea to have a one or two day trial. If we are cool with the arrangement we will invite you to stay longer. And vice-versa, if you prefer to continue on with your travels we are understanding as well.

Hopefully by reading this profile it is clear if we would be a good match for your stay. If you aren't sure, please feel free to ask any questions or set up a call on Skype or Whatsapp.

    Transportation:

It is best if you have your own vehicle because we are not within walking distance of town.

BUS: There is a bus stop nearby (about a 5 minute drive). This is a good option for travelling here from farther away.

There is no public transport within the town, so as mentioned - having your own vehicle would be a plus, but not absolutely necessary.

We might be able to loan you a vehicle, depending on terms of our insurance. We are happy to transport you to nearby places. It is best if you have your own vehicle though.

We have starlink wifi, but only at the house (and only when we have power). There is good mobile range here though, so if you have your own data on your phone/device then that might be good enough (depending how much internet you need). If you need hours of internet a day then this would not be a good fit as ours is sometimes limited because of power/solar.

  • Space for parking camper vans

    Space for parking camper vans

Plenty of space for parking an RV/Caravan. Also laundry facility. We have an ideal spot for parking, flat and easy access to facilities and lots of outdoor space.
