  • Description

    Hi everyone!!

A big thank you to all the volunteers that helped in all the projects since the begining of this camp site and farm found within an IUCN protected area.
We try to be respectful and protective towards the environment. Recycling is one of the main projects as the summer has lots of visitors.
We have a garden and some animals(gooses dogs cats).
At the time we look for people who are willing to help in cooking, setting up tents, washing sheets, cleaning toilets, cleaning the path to the camp and the path of the canyon from waste, organizing camping material, help in construction, painting walls, feeding animals providing water, protect trees etc.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Most visitors are travellers from around the world so you will be able to have a multicultural exchange during the time staying here. You could learn part of the local history and few cultural traditions of the south.Observe the old architecture used for the construction of stone buildings (churches, houses).
You could learn Albanian language or some other languages depending on what nationality are the people living here.
Socializing in the group of volunteers it is a way to get to know each other and exchange valuable information about traveling around the world and in Albania aswell .
We will try to have the lowest negative impact towards the enviroment as here is a protected area aswell ,so getting to how this can happen and participating in the process its beneficial aswell.

    (IUCN protected area)

  • Help

Usually help is needed in cooking meals, cleaning sheets and blankets, setting up tents, cleaning toilets, repairing old stone construction, repairing wooden structures, welcoming visitors, shopping food, collecting plastic from the canyon and the whole area of campground and beach, organizing Gjipe road waste collection points.
Help is also needed in taking care of animals like dogs cats and gooses.
We already have a garden so will need help in gardening and tree resilience practices as the farm is in an Olive Grove.
We will try to plant new fruit trees.
Later in October we will need help in harvesting olive trees.
    We start working from 7am.
Flexibility and responsibility is necessary as you might need to work 2 hours on a task and later during the day 2-3 more hours.

We eat food prepared in our kitchen & sleep in tents equiped with mattreses+sheets+blankets.
    All meals are offered !!
    The food is mostly vegetarian.
It's would be better to bring long sleeve clothing as nights are fresh even in the summer.
Shower is cold during summer but sometimes you can warm up the water and wash in a traditional way(bucket and cup)
Bring organic washing products if possible!!

You could visit the nearby villages (Unesco protected) or go climbing-hiking in the canyon and swimming at the beach relax at the camping area etc.At Vuno village you will find some old reconstructed churches or ruins in some cases. These churches will be funded from us to get rebuilt-reconstructed & maintained helping this way in the rehabilitation of Vuno cultural heritage.
There used to be around 20 family owned small churches in function many years ago.
You could also try to visit by hiking along the coast,Jale or Dhermi beach. You can explore a famous historical sea cave(Shpella e Pirateve-Pirates Cave) . Another place you could visit is the old monastery of Saint Theodore up the hill,30min from the camp.
Available transport are usually buses and mini buses from the main road(40-50minutes walking distance from the camp)to Himare/Sarande/Vlore/Tirane.
In Albania you can get in an another place by hitchhiking aswell.
