Description
Hi everyone!
We are Jake (22) and Luna (23), and we have been travelling full-time for two years now. We really enjoy the slow-travelling lifestyle, and Workaway has been the perfect way for us to experience different cultures, meet inspiring people, and make us feel connected to the places we visit. We love being in nature, and the ability to live off-grid has been a big part of our journey. Being vegetarian/vegan also shapes how we approach the world, and we enjoy connecting with like-minded people. We love the unique experiences we’ve collected so far and are excited to continue exploring the world.
A bit about our story: we met four years ago in Jake's hometown in Wales, where Luna was studying at the time. After she finished her studies and we had saved up some money, we decided to pack our bags and leave the UK. Since then, we have stayed at eight different Workaway projects, made countless friends along the way, learned new skills, and made unforgettable experiences.
Our journey has taken us through the Balkans, Georgia and Turkey, then onto Southeast Asia, where we backpacked through Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Most recently, we’ve been to Western Europe, enjoying more community-based projects in France and Portugal. What started as an experiment quickly became a lifestyle that feels right for us, shaping how we see the world and our future.
We love gaining new experiences, meeting people and animals, and continuing to explore at a slower, more intentional pace. In our free time, we enjoy long walks, cooking and learning new dishes together, and winding down with a good book in the evening.

More details about your skills
Over the past couple of years, we’ve had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from hotels and hostels to farms, campsites, and communities. Here’s a look at the skills we’ve developed:
Hospitality & Customer Service:
At both the hotel and the hostel, we’ve gained valuable customer service experience. During our time at the hotel, we were responsible for turning over 14 rooms daily, handling laundry, assisting with dinner service, and checking guests in. We also assisted guests with inquiries about local tours. At the hostel, Luna was cleaning rooms and common areas and managing laundry, while Jake prepared breakfast for guests and volunteers.
In addition, Jake has extensive experience as a chef, having cooked for groups of around 10 people during Workaways. His most significant cooking experience was at his previous job, where he prepared meals for up to 250 people. Luna’s front-of-house experience includes making coffee, serving food, and bartending.
Farm & Outdoor Work:
We’ve participated in two farm-focused workaways, where we gained knowledge into harvesting fruits and vegetables, pruning plants, watering the land, clearing paths, and hedge trimming. We’ve also helped with landscaping, including tasks such as concrete work and laying grass. Most recently, we helped with a building project, where we constructed concrete steps, using tools such as a jackhammer to level the ground beforehand and a cement mixer to prepare the concrete mixture. Due to the variety of tasks, we’ve learned to use a range of tools, including picks, chainsaws, drills, and sanding machines.
Animal Care:
One of the highlights of our travels has been caring for animals. At various Workaways, we’ve looked after everything from dogs and cats to chickens and koi fish. In one of our community stays, we were trusted with dog-sitting for 9 days.
Social Media & Creative Work:
Luna holds a degree in Creative Writing & Film, and she’s always eager to explore new creative hobbies. At one homestay, she helped produce social media content for a beauty supply brand.
We’re always excited to learn new skills, apply our existing ones to new projects, and be of help.

What else ...
Luna: In my spare time I like reading, video editing, and crocheting. I also have a passion for photography, especially nature and landscape photography. I enjoy cooking for my family and Jake and preparing meals for them. I love connecting with animals and could sit with them for hours.
Jake: In my spare time I enjoy reading, cooking, photography and long walks in nature. Lately I have been pursuing more creative hobbies whenever I have the chance, like creating art and videos documenting our travels. I also love caring for and spending time with animals.
