I had a lovely stay with John for 4 nights. He was kind enough to have a friend pick me up in invercargill and let me in his house while he was away working, and it had a very comfortable room and shower. The house is in a nice and quiet area of invercargill and there is a nice beautiful garden. I helped John clear some weeds, clean the windows,

We spent a good amount of time together and john is very knowledgeable about the new zealand agriculture and I enjoyed our conversations, he even showed me some sheep shearing!
He was quite busy taking care of various errands on the weekends and evenings but I did not mind also having some quiet time for myself to explore the city! You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

My review is a little late.. but it's better late than never 😅 my trip to new zealand is coming to an end. And John is one of our most precious encounters. We had a great stay with him. He taught us how to shear sheep, made us discover his world, did everything to make us happy and have fun. John is very caring. Thank you for your kindness towards

I stayed at John’s for the last week of January and really enjoyed it. He is organized, skilled, & incredibly productive so anyone helping gets to feel like a lot was accomplished that day. That’s how I felt anyhow! John cut trees and I helped load the trailer with wood then unload it at delivery; move the cut limbs around. On another day I helped
… read more round up sheep John sheared them and I handle the sheared wool. Not too difficult!
John has lots of stories to share and is easy to interact with. He also taught me quite a bit about felling trees, maintaining my chainsaw back home, and sharpening knives. I got to meet lots of locals through him such as the people he cut trees for and the people he delivered wood to. He is, as he says, an easy going kiwi guy and I was perfectly comfortable in his home at all times.
The description John has written of his place and the work is fully accurate. If you’re looking for more than just a place to stay, if you want to have a glimpse into kiwi life and participate in a project that matters, I wholeheartedly recommend staying at John’s.You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I spent only 3 days at John's place and my stay was good. The tasks weren't difficult at all! We cut some firewood during few hours the first day and I helped him and his friend the day after with their sheep! As I'm vegetarian, John was kind enough to not kill some of them the day I was with them ahah. John drove me to Oreti Beach too during my
