Description
Bonjour; I'm a well travelled mom of a 7 years old. I have lived and worked in Australia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Madagascar and Whistler. Since 2001 I have been operating a B&B. I'm now alone taking care of it with my son:)
I also work during the week on other projects (currently building apartments accross the shore in Levis). That's why I'm seeking for help with the B&B;)
At home my son and I speak French and English;)Types of help and learning opportunities

We have a busy schedule but you ll be with my son and I sometimes.. You ll also meet people from around the world. Quebec is mainly French so this is also a good way to be fully immersed and learn or practice a new language;)

Help
Old Quebec is a charming historical and wall city. Summer time is buzzing with tourists from around the world.
I operate a B&B right in the Old town, next to the magnificent Chateau Frontenac. Since I'm alone with my child operating the B&B and working on my other project (building development and helping people buying their first property in Quebec), I need help couple days a week. The B&B has 4 bedrooms. I also have an apartment around the corner.
The job may consist of:
- In the morning you ll have to prepare breakfast for people who have paid for breakfast (setting the table up, preparing -breakfast, cleaning after breakfast. Generally it s between 7am to 10 am).
-Check out is at 11. This is when i may need you to clean the rooms and apartments, washing and drying the linens, folding them ect)
C/I is between 3pm until 9pm. it consists of (showing them their room, parking location, answering their questions about restaurants, what is there to visit, offering tea ect)
- you may need to assist the guest with their request (making reservation at the restaurants or other activities); answering the phone, answering emails
You have to be social and like to be at home, People choosing a B&B like to interact with the staff. The travellers who chose to stay at a B&B are opened minded and very fun people. It s my favourite part of the job, interacting with guest; learning about their culture, life, language ect
I need someone on the weekend ( friday, saturday and sunday 7 - 8 pm ) sometimes more if available (evening sometimes after 4pm or extra day during the week). Weekends are long shift but you'll have the rest of the week to explore. You would be working no more than 40 hours/week. I may also be looking for part time workers. Just ask:)
I need someone preferably with a working visa. If you don't have a working visa and the space is free we can work something out.
In exchange we offer free accommodation plus minimum wage. -you ll be sleeping in a room in the basement so you'll be the first person to attend a guess at night if anything (which most likely won't happened, as they have a door code to enter the house) It is just in case of an emergency. There s also a toilet, shouwer and sink in the basement for you to use.
Working in a B&B is not a typical job where you work 8-5. It usually consists or working a whole day ( with some spare time here and there).
I live nearby and Im sometimes available but I'm busy with my 7 years old and parents who are sick.Languages

I have a big room at the B&B in the basement- with bathroom- and possibly an apartment once in a while (when the B&B is rented to a single family). I need someone to commit for the summer (ideally May until mid October) or at least a month during slow season. Couple or single person welcomed.
What else ...
Quebec city is a historical town (packed with restaurants, museums and shops) next to the st-Lawrence river. There s a lot of bike trails near by. you can learn to sail if you want on the river. National parks (parc de la Jacques-cartier) is 30 min away. There are public pools, yoga class, all the things you can normally do in a city, you can find here. In July we also have a music festival that goes on for 2 weeks and cost barely nothing. (festival d'été de Québec). We have an information center around the corner. if you want to know more about all the tours and things you can do, it could be a start;)
