    Description

Anand: „In the south center of Gran Canaria is our piece of land hugged by mountains. It is a wonderful place without neighbors and with absolute freedom. You can shout, dance, and laugh without disturbing anyone. I was born in this beautiful place where my mother lives now. After a fire in 2007, our house burned down and years later I decided that it is time to give a tender hand to the space that has already recovered from the fire.“

Lara actual hosting: „ In 2023, I came to Anand’s and Raji’s home as a Workawayer myself and just fell in love with this place, its people, and the project itself—to see what people can create together with their own hands and creative minds. Since then, I have been back four more times and continue to enjoy every second in this special place on Earth
Anand and I became close friends, and we still share the dream of maintaining the land to create an even more comfortable home for Raji, as well as a space where people can come together, get closer to nature, connect, dance, be creative, make music, meditate, do yoga, and simply be as wild and free as the place itself.
Because Anand is currently doing his carpentry training in Germany, he asked me if I would like to host the Workaway for three months. As I am currently traveling through Europe by bike with my boyfriend Cristian and planned to spend the winter (January to March) on the Canary Islands, it felt like the perfect fit.
So I will be there the whole time together with Raji, who lives here full-time, while Anand will join us for a few weeks during his holidays.”

The bonfires, sharing, dancing, playing music, being able to be alone or not, shouting at the mountains, the birds, the wind, creating, sweating, and being tired. We will discover together how to build a beautiful space, something that has its process but can be a wonderful experience.

After finishing the clay house during the first Workaway, we now want to create a space where people can move, dance, do yoga, be creative, and simply enjoy being in nature.
To make this happen, we will work with reed. We will harvest it, prepare it, and weave it. We will also work with wood and other materials from the land.
At the same time, we want to continue maintaining and improving the land to make life even more comfortable for Raji. We would like to plant more trees and other plants in a way that is suitable for the climate and weather conditions of the island.
The tasks can sometimes be physically demanding and at other times involve planning and researching how to build and plant in a sustainable, long-term way. You will have a say in the design of the space as well as in the selection of the plants we grow.
We are happy about all the experience, skills, and knowledge that you bring with you!
We are looking for people with a pure heart and a genuine willingness to learn <3 — people who respect and celebrate nature as we do, and who want to put their passion and love into this project and community life.

I am always curious to learn new languages. It would be nice to combine it with living together, but it is not the main pillar of the project. PS: my righting english is like guacamole without salt. It looks delicios but it is just ok...

    Accommodation

We are living completely outside and close to nature. You will sleep in a tent with a mattress and blankets that we provide for you. As mentioned before, you are also very welcome to bring your own sleeping equipment if you have it.
We have running drinking water and an outdoor shower. Of course, you can also always enjoy a refreshing dip in the small river nearby :-) There are compost toilets on the land, and in general, life here is very simple, back to basics, and connected with nature.
So if you are looking for a way of simple and natural living, you are in the right place!
For electronics, we have a solar panel that works, of course, only when the sun is shining. So bringing a power bank can be useful if you have electronics that you need or want to use regularly.

As the nearest supermarket is more than 25 km away and not easy to reach, I will be doing the grocery shopping for everyone and organizing most of the food supplies.
At the moment, Anand and I are living on a very small budget, and most of our savings are going directly into materials for the project. To help cover the food costs during your stay, we kindly ask for a donation of around €30 per week.
This is only a suggested contribution. If you can give less, that's completely okay, and if you are able to contribute a little more, it is greatly appreciated and helps us a lot. With these donations, we can cover the basic food expenses, make hosting possible for the full three months, and continue developing the project together.

    What else ...

The place is remote: difficult to reach because there are no buses that take you there and from a certain point, you have to continue on foot. We go down to the coast once a week. In case it is not possible to pick you up, we can show you the easiest way to get there.

We do not want drugs to play a role in this place. If you want to make a drug trip I would like to be asked first.
