Hi, I’m Alix, and I am currently on a winter break before starting work again in April. We want to enjoy the few months of hollidays with my boyfriend Simon before we go back to work. We are open to short trips around Europe (up to one month) to meet people working on cool projects, improve our languages Simon’s English and my Spanish, and continue developing our personal artistic projects alongside our journey : I love to create things, as an artist but also to buid or repair machines.

We work for a company specializing in composting toilets and all aspects of waste management, focusing on returning organic matter to the soil. Our work involves understanding wastewater treatment systems, managing different types of waste. We want to increase our microbiology knowledge to support organic recycling and soil health.

We live in France and can travel by car or camper van (although the van isn’t heated for winter sleeping) as long as there is no ocean or sea between us. We are highly motivated to learn new skills, especially sailing and boat work, but also more mechanics and buiding techniques, and I am particularly eager to learn welding. We are also very interested in boat-related projects, as we’ve both wanted to learn sailing and life on board for a long time. We’re motivated to discover navigation, maintenance, and daily life on boats, and to get involved in hands-on maritime projects, whether at sea or around harbours.

We currently work together for a compost toilet company, which has given us experience in woodwork, composting systems, soil management, plants, and gardening. We are comfortable using tools, handling machinery, and driving large vehicles, and we both hold a trailer driving licence up to 4.250 T.
We’re comfortable with basic house maintenance such as drywall installation, tiling, and general repairs. I built my own camper van and have repaired cars and motorbikes, giving me the basics of the basics in mechanics — something we both rely on in our work, as we often drive older trucks. In a previous workaway, we also build a full earth house with a stove.

I have also worked on a farm producing chickens, cows, and cereals, so I know how to take care of chickens and cattle, including slaughtering and cooking chickens, and caring for cows, horses, and donkeys. I rode horses for about 10 years and grew up around them.
