  • Description

It’s an old Swedish school from the 19th century, full of charm and history. We are an young couple 32&29 who are renovating it in its original style staying with traditional building methods.

It’s in a quiet village in the middle of Sweden and has water on two sides and endless forests around it.

It’s one year in the making and we are fixing things as we go along. Painting the windows, replacing window panes, building walls, clearing the yard of bushes and weed. Ideating new projects like building a library, an updated kitchen, a sauna and perhaps even a car park.

We both live and work in Stockholm, this is our getaway place. Between us we have a love for baking, restoration, photography, bird watching and interior decoration.

We are non-smokers and prefer our guests to be the same. We love the quietness in the nature and would encourage the guests to do the same.

We are looking for guests with positive attitude to problem solving, as things could go off plan as we renovate and we might have to think on our foot. Any prior experience in carpentry would be a welcome plus.

Help in the yard would not be easy, be sure you are up for an approximately 5 hours of outdoor help a day.

To beat the heat we would start early, around 07:00 and plan easy afternoons.

PS: We are looking to host between 15 July & 15 August 2019.

You would enjoy the Swedish summer dream. Working on the cabin, swimming in the lake, going fishing and just relaxing at the nature.

The house is far from all urban commotions and gives us a chance to disconnect from work life stress.

We will gladly show you the surroundings. We will tell you all about Swedish culture and you will have the chance to eat typical Swedish food.

The house is being renovated. This summer we hope to paint all the windows with a traditional linseed oil based paint, replace some worn boards on the outside of the house, clean out the yard of bushes, plants and some small trees and building a long dining table in the traditional way. And perhaps clean out the shed, fix the boat and build an outdoor BBQ.

  • Accommodation

We have a spare room with a comfortable double bed and one more spare room in the attic with two single beds. Please do note that while the rooms have doors the house is built in a way where you have to walk through rooms to get to the other rooms.

You would share the shower and toilet with the hosts.

We would cook our meals together either on the wood fired oven or out in the BBQ.
