    Hello, I'm Anthony, a founder of a Nursery and Primary School in Bududa district, eastern Uganda. With over 30 years of teaching experience, I'm passionate about helping children grow and learn in underserved communities.
    Our school has 5 dedicated teachers and community members who support kids' growth, learning, and happiness. We are surrounded by beautiful greenery and the hills of Mt Elgon.
    We welcome volunteers with a passion for education and working with kids.
    You will stay with my Family- Mayi Florence (teacher) and my grand daughters Rose aged 11 years and Loyce 10years - i n our moderate home, just 5 minutes walk away from the school.
    Volunteer with us and;
    •Share knowledge, skills and experience with local teachers and children
    •Experience warm hospitality from community homes.
    •Connect with nature and local agriculture.
    •Explore coffee plantations and taste traditional foods like Matooke.
    •Bring your expertise in teaching, coaching, art, music, games , sports, computer skills or other areas.
    Our school operates Monday to Friday, 9:00am- 4:30pm. We are excited to have you join us!

    Beyond your teaching experience,
    You will enjoy our traditional music and dance performed by our local children, participate in cooking classes to learn our traditional dishes like; bamboo shoot (malewa), posho(Busima), crushed beans (machila), matooke and many others.
    Additionally, you will explore local markets with a major mobile market every Thursday, discover local fruits and admire hand made crafts.
    You will also join our festivals and celebrations like circumcision" Imbalu" dance that initiates boys into manhood.
    There will be engagement with locals, learn basic lugisu phrases like "Mulembe"(hello) and you can share with us your language.
    You will get the opportunity to explore nearby attractions like Namisidwa caves, Mt. Elgon peak(Wagagai), suspended bridge across valley, Subisi water falls.
    Come and experience the warmth of Ugandan culture.

    We are seeking volunteers to support our educational programs and community projects. The areas of focus include;
    1) Teaching and learning support:
    •Assist students with reading, math and science.
    •Help improve English pronunciation and conversation skills among our students.
    •Teach creative subjects like Art, Dance and sports (football), physical education
    •Teach computer basics, Microsoft Word, Excel and power point to both students and local staffs .
    •Provide health education on hygiene, balance diet and other relevant topics.
    2)Counselling and guidance:
    •Support orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV, poverty, and domestic violence
    3) Language Teaching:
    •Teach English to elderly, French and German to staff and our community members.
    4) Construction and infrastructure:
    •Help with ongoing construction of classroom blocks and sick bay those with building skills.
    5) Gardening and sustainability:
    •Those with agricultural skills can help in our vegetable demonstration garden, sharing expertise to enhance sustainable practices and support local food security.
    We welcome volunteers passionate about making a difference.

    Volunteers can teach our staffs French,German and Spanish because there are really interested in learning new languages. Volunteers can also offer English classes to our illiterate elders interested in learning.In return ,our elders can teach Lumasaba. Volunteers interested in local language will have chance to learn from them.This program will be a great opportunity to learn about each other's cultures.

    Our accommodation is simple yet comfortable in a peaceful rural home.
    Each volunteer will be staying in his or her own clean private room attached to our family house.
    Beds, bed cover, bed sheets and mosquito nets are available .
    We have outside toilets and bathrooms with one self contained room
    A visitor is served 3 meals a day prepared by Mayi Florence.
    We boil water for drinking and for a hot shower if you need it.
    Evening lemon tea is provided
    Solar power is available to charge your laptop and phone.
    Wi-Fi is available at the accommodation site
    We locally grow most of the food and we are proud to offer home grown meals as a part of your experience.
    You will enjoy the fresh vegetables, fruits like jack fruit, avocado, mangoes,grains, soya beans, peanuts, cassava, matooke, yams, different types of plantains that we harvest ourselves and some times local meats.
    In case a volunteer wants something special, we can guide you to the local market to purchase at your own cost.
    Meals and accommodation are FREE of charge.

    In your free time ,you can tour beautiful surroundings! Visit river Liisi,hike our green hills nearby ,tour the suspended bridge between valleys , Subisi waterfalls ,Namisindwa caves 1 hour by boda ride or Siipi falls 2 hours by car.
    Transport to these sites is at your cost but we shall guide you.
    If you a hiker,a visit to Mt Elgon is a must.It has a beautiful greenery with a volcanic landscape and a crater lake on its peak called Wagagai which creates an amazing adventure .
    In regards to transportation ,bodas and taxis (public cars ) are convenient but can always guide you.
    In respect to our local customs ,dress decently for instance ladies using long pants,long skirts /dresses when working at schools or in communities.
    Greeting whenever you meet someone by saying hello (mulembe). Its a sign of
    respect .
    Your stay with us will be a wonderful cross cultural experience filled with community connections and cultural discoveries in eastern Uganda.
