Description
We run a very small family-owned and operated vineyard, brewery, cidery, and distillery 2km from Macarthur, Victoria. It's a beautiful place close to Budj Bim National Park, with lots of koalas and native birds.
There are bike / walking trails at Budj Bim National park, with the Southern Hemisphere's largest wind farm about 30 minutes drive away. We are also about 30 minutes drive away from Hamilton and Port Fairy. The closest beach is only 20 minutes drive away. We're pretty friendly and relaxed; we can speak English, Afrikaans and Dutch fluently, but we don't care how much English you speak. We're not vegetarian (but you're welcome to cook vegetarian meals), we don't smoke, and we have some suffolk sheep, chickens, guinea fowls, alpacas and two dogs on the property.
My wife and I are expats from South Africa and have done a lot of travelling, both within Australia and around the world, and we are always keen to meet new people and exchange culture, knowledge, recipes and conversation.Types of help and learning opportunities

We are originally from South Africa and have lived and travelled in a number of countries. We are proud to call ourselves Aussies and would like to share this unique place with you. We are still South Africans by birth and our cooking is hugely influenced by this as well. We are happy to show the in's and out's of wine and beer making and can share a lot of knowledge on plant breeding and new technologies in Agriculture. We are also always keen to meet new people and exchange culture, knowledge, recipes and conversation.

Help
We are offering accommodation and food in exchange for 5 hours help a day. Depending on when you arrive it could be gardening, babysitting, property maintenance or any of the other random tasks that come up with small-scale family farming. You will also be expected to help with cooking sometimes and clean up after yourselves.
Please note that the 5 hours per day will not include any business related activities. In peak season for our business, we may also be able to offer casual employment for business-related work activities (vineyard work, cellar door work) and will be paid at the appropriate award rates.Languages spoken

Accommodation is one bedroom with one double bed. Bathroom facilities are shared with us. We have ample (not unlimited) wifi and you can buy wine or beer at mate's rates. There are plenty of books, board-games etc in case it rains, and we have netflix and fetchTV as well.
What else ...
Having your own car is useful in Macarthur. We do have have 2 bikes available for use, and we can pick people up from Hamilton or Warrnambool - so if you are reasonably fit then a car is not necessary.

We were there during the week running up to their music festival so most of our work was in preparation for that. The music festival itself was great fun and it was a great way to spend our last weekend in Australia!
