    Description

We – Josh and Veronika, originally from England/Germany, don't live on the quinta but in nearby a village. We work on our quinta several times a week, looking after the land and developing a food forest along syntropic farming principles. Josh is also a geodesic dome builder. We are in the process of creating a place where we can learn more about syntropic agriculture locally.

    Help

We are currently growing a small foodforest on our quinta and are looking for help with taking care of the land and the plants. Gardening and/or landscaping skills are greatly appreciated.
Another current work in progress is a 12 m geodesic greenhouse dome.
Volunteers will work alongside the owners of the quinta as well as other longterm volunteers.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The quinta has a 3 bedroom granite house which is available for our volunteers. You will sleep in your own bedroom – kitchen, bathroom, living room will be shared with other volunteers. Some 'free' food (seasonal fruit, salad, herbs, vegetables) is available for harvesting on the quinta.
We do not provide additional meals on a regular basis (apart from the occasional shared lunch)
The land is located on the edge of a Portuguese village. A mini mercado, cafés, a market garden, baker, and yoga school are all within walking distance. The village has a vibrant community with frequent events locally.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Volunteers are expected to work approx. 3 hours on weekdays in exchange for accommodation and the food that the land provides. To the nearest town (with banks, post office, super markets, pharmacies etc.) it's about 8 km. Public transport is not available, but shared lifts can be arranged.
There is plenty of opportunity to meet other people at markets or events in this area of Portugal, including hiking in the Serra da Estrela, swimming at river beaches, visits to small museums, yoga, meditation, shamanic retreats, etc.
