Description
We are a young family- Lior (35), Mai (26) and Alma (3), living in the beautiful village of São Miguel de Acha, Castelo Branco, Central Portugal.
Our dream is to live a simpler life, in touch with nature ,completely self-sufficient in an ecological way.
We are currently transforming our 37 hectares of degraded annual crop fields into a thriving permaculture farm.
Our goal is to reforest as a food forest-helping the planet while creating our own garden of eden.
There are many ways you can fit in. From simple everyday tasks to taking on your own project. There are trees to plant, olives to harvest, houses to renovate, wood chips to make, veggie-patch to nourish and much more.
Any ideas or skills you have are welcome.
Come to learn and teach about permaculture.
Don’t hesitate to contact us for any further questions, we’d love to hear from you!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
If you’re new to permaculture come and discover this beautiful method that can be applied to any area of our lives. And if you are already a permaculturist, we’d love to exchange ideas and work together on the design.
Part of being self sufficient is to Do It Yourself, and we’re happy to share our knowledge- from building and welding to irrigation, gardening, foresting, plumbing, electricity, and more.
Help
We believe the best way for you to contribute is by using your skills doing what you love and enjoy.
That’s why we’re flexible and happy to work with you to find the best way to put your talents to good use during your stay.

Accommodation
We offer two accommodation options, depending on the kind of experience you're looking for:
The Family House in the Village-
(For female volunteers)
If you stay with us in the family house, you’ll have a cozy room with a double bed and a shared bathroom.
You’re welcome to join our family meals (usually vegetarian), and the kitchen is stocked with all the essentials.
You’re also free to use the washing machine, Wi-Fi, and other basic amenities.
The Caravan at the Farm-
If you’re looking to stay closer to nature, we offer a peaceful caravan set under a cork oak tree, between our young food forest and the pond.
The caravan includes:
• A double bed
• Solar-powered electricity
• Running drinking water
• A fully equipped kitchen (small fridge, gas stove, and sink)
• A dry compost toilet
• A hot bucket shower (a proper hot shower is in progress)
there is no heating, but plenty of blankets.
The farm is a chemical-free zone – no synthetic shampoos, soaps, toothpaste, or detergents are allowed. We’re happy to share 100% natural products from our favorite local herbalist or shop together at the organic store.
Food & Help Exchange-
Family House Volunteers:
Help us 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, and we’ll provide you with food and accommodation.
Caravan (or your own camper)-
Help us 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, in exchange for accommodation and utilities.
(Food is not included, but there’s a small grocery store in the village, and you’re welcome to join our weekly trip to the farmers market in the city.)
We’re flexible and open to fair arrangements — if you have different needs or ideas, feel free to reach out and let’s chat!
What else ...
The beautiful countryside has a lot to offer — from amazing historical sites like the ancient fortress of Monsanto, to local markets, breathtaking hikes, and more.
In our village, you’ll find bakeries, cafés, and restaurants serving delicious traditional food.
Public transport passes through the village to several nearby locations, and you're welcome to join us on our weekly trips to the city.
