Mountain Retreat
Our place offers all-inclusive holidays to guests from around the world. We can accommodate a maximum of 14 guests who typically stay with us for 1 week. During their stay, guests have the opportunity to practice yoga, enjoy guided outdoor mountain activities or perhaps relax in our beautiful wood-fired hot tub. We value our environment and all meals at are plant based.
Our guests appreciate a personalised service and homely atmosphere which we cultivate through communal dining and sharing our time and interests of the great outdoors.
Our aim of our retreat is to introduce guests to mountain activities and experience the surrounding nature.
It is at 1800m on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park in Austria. Our location is truly something special: the views from the house are stunning, many hiking routes start from the house and in winter you can ski down from the house to the ski lifts, the 'garden' is filled with Marmots, Gams (Chamois) and Deer. Please note that is a remote place! The village of Kals is 5km down the road and Lienz, the nearest city, is 30km from the place. In the winter, accessibility is limited, so usually once you have arrived back to the place after a day of adventure, you really do not want to leave again.

General Maintenance
Our team is already diverse in that we come from different parts of Europe. Our guests are all very varied, from all over the world and have many different interests. The area that we are based in is an amazing traditional Austrian farming community, where things still happen the 'old' ways. We are also surrounded by an astounding amount of nature; wild flowers, birdlife and wild animals never cease to amaze us in this beautiful place!

About the job:
We are looking for a mountain loving couple or a single person who will be responsible for plant based cooking among other hosting duties.
Our summer season runs until the 8th October. There is also the option that the role extends into the winter season.
Cooking Role:
We are very proud of the importance that the food has within the experience. You’ll be responsible for cooking and preparing vegan meals suitable for varying dietary requests. Evening meals are three courses, with an emphasis on beautiful presentation as well as super tasty meals. We also provide a plant based cake for our guests in the afternoon. The cooking role is shared with another member of the team, so you would not be expected to cook every night. Catering management (administration, purchasing, stock management, etc.) with cleaning and supervision of the kitchen area is another essential part of the role (but this is something we can help with, if this role is new to you). Proficiency in German is a big advantage to maintain close relationships with local suppliers.
Hosting.
This role involves being a practical and diligent host. You will work alongside the rest of our small team to ensure that the out place is a safe, welcoming environment in which to stay and live. This role is varied from chopping wood, driving guests to their activities and helping with the cleaning. You will support the different elements that make up the experience for our guests in the mountains. The ability to help in the kitchen is also required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a friendly open person. You will spend a lot of time with our lovely guests from all over the world. A willingness to start conversation and a love of meeting people is necessary.
Must have prior hospitality experience
Must be a quick learner
Love of mountains and the outdoors
Good understanding of practical skills, like wood chopping
English plus German speaking is a bonus
EU Passport or An Austrian work visa
HOURS: 40 per week
The Work:
Weekly: When guests are with us, we work six days a week with one full day off. We then have an extra morning and evening off a week. This gives you the chance to not dine with the guests and have some extra space.
Monthly Pay: €1000 net per month (after tax, health insurance & pension).
Accommodation, food, use of equipment (yoga room for example)
We all work hard but you should see it as a lifestyle – we are not “staff” in the narrow sense of the word; it’s very much a “team” effort! We get to live in a stunning location, bike down the ‘road’ to pick up the bread, meet really interesting people and eat great vegan food.
The Team
You would both join a team of 2 other permanent employees at the place and a part time hiking guide.
English: Fluent
German: Intermediate
We offer one private room with en-suite private bathroom and a stunning view, all meals, WiFi, yoga classes and a relaxingly active atmosphere in one of the most beautiful places in Europe.
