Description
We are a small Sri Lankan family residing on a farm with elderly parents. Two younger sons and one sister also call this place home. Currently, we handle all the tasks independently. Due to a significant decrease in available workers in Sri Lanka, our usual support has dwindled by half. Unfortunately, finding assistance has become challenging due to the ongoing crisis. The parents, who are over 60, are finding it increasingly difficult to manage the responsibilities associated with the farm.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
In their free time, guests can immerse themselves in nature, enjoy activities like hiking, swimming in natural surroundings, embark on jungle treks, visit Sinharaja Forest with its waterfalls, and partake in local experiences. Situated off the main road along a gravel path, the estate is accessible by Tuktuk or a scenic walk, with luggage transport provided. The accommodations are simple and reflective of the local lifestyle, offering private spaces while sharing sanitary facilities with the family. The goal is to convert a vacant house into a space dedicated to ecotourism.

Help
Tourists can contribute significantly by assisting in various aspects of daily plantation life. Tasks may include participating in tea, pepper, and cinnamon harvesting, helping with planting activities, and engaging in sustainable agricultural practices. Additionally, volunteers can collaborate with the local community, fostering cultural exchange and gaining insights into traditional farming methods. Your involvement not only supports the elderly owners and their young son but also promotes eco-friendly initiatives. Embrace this opportunity to be hands-on in a picturesque setting, making a positive impact on both the plantation and the local community.

You'll be staying in a simple room within a local tea-picker's family home, sharing bathroom facilities with them. The house is situated atop a hill at an altitude of 1200 meters, surrounded by picturesque tea plantations. It stands in isolation, accessible via a gravel road. The serene environment allows for privacy when needed. There are no neighboring houses, shops, or eateries, with the nearest town approximately 8 km away. The owners are willing to assist with transportation for shopping or sightseeing, and their son Pivi serves as a knowledgeable guide.
We provide daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the farm. We serve healthy, fresh meals with minimal meat or fish. Sri Lankan breakfast typically includes hoppers or bread with coconut, an egg, fresh fruit, and tea. For lunch, there’s a salad with fresh vegetables, and dinner consists of an extensive rice and curry spread with around five individually served dishes, including dessert. Tea and water are available at all times. What else ...
